“fantastic!”
Reviewed 31 July 2007

Being from the UK we are always impressed by American hotels but the Marco Island Hilton outdid all our expectations.
Marco Island itself is very safe and very quiet.
The Hilton has great sized rooms and is clean and comfortable. The pool area is never overrun by kids and there is a nice chilled out atmosphere. Breakfast is great and service is fantastic, the staff made a real fuss over my little boy.
We only discovered where all the locals go after a few days. Head to the small marina where the restaurants are (behind Subway etc) and it comes alive at night.
We travelled all over the area by car, down through the everglades, as far north as Tampa and as far east as Miami.
It's fantastic for a chilled out holiday but also a great base for exploring the area.
I would recommend it and hope to return one day.

Having stayed at the Marco Hilton many times before we decided to stay here for our honeymoon. So did Hurricane Frances! So we ended up stuck in our room for a couple of days taking videos of the weather from the balcoiny. The hotel was overcrowded with the Miami-set escaping from the East coast, they really need to get a life and learn some manners. We've never met so many rude & obnoxious people in one place. None of this was down to the hotel though. The staff reacted to the emergency situation with great professionalism and we made the most of our stay in difficult circumstances. We finished the honeymoon in Crete!

We just returned from a 6 day stay at the Hilton Marco Island, a hotel we have enjoyed very much in the past. I reserved a king, non-smoking, partial gulf-front room through Expedia and was a bit surprised at the high room rate for this time of year. We were even more surprised upon arrival when we were led to a room with two twin beds, a full view of the partially demolished Radisson Hotel, steep self-parking fees ($8.00 per day) and a fee to use the health club. The bellman called the front desk about the twin bed situation and I was told the Hilton would not guarantee a king bed, and would provide one only if available. But I booked and paid for, through Expedia, a king bed. With my luggage in tow, I was told to proceed to the reservation desk where I had to prove I had booked a king room. Forced to make good, they upgraded our room to a king suite with a view of the gulf - and the destruction of the 650 room Radisson.

The following morning we went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast where we were encouraged to order the buffet. The floor was so slippery that I literally could not stand up from my chair and had to remove my shoes to make it out of the place even after the waiter, on hands and knees, wiped an oily substance that was spread on the floor around us. I saw several others take a near-fall. The waiter blamed the cleaning crew for using too much product in an attempt to eliminate the odor from the previous nights seafood buffet.

The entire island is under construction. Roads are closed and conditions are terrible. At the Hilton, sliding doors are being replaced, there is daily noise from the demolition next door and on the only sunny day we had at the pool, we had to contend with workmen cutting concrete around the pool leaving an opaque cloud of dust hovering in the area for way too long.

The last day of our stay we didn’t receive maid service and I had to call for towels. Housekeeping never offered to send someone to clean the room even though it was after 4PM. The service overall has declined at the Hilton.

I'd stay away from Marco Island until the construction calms down a bit. It is a beautiful place and I'll continue to visit, however, I plan to rent a timeshare the next time around. One of the highlights of our trip was our two visits to House of Mozart. Order the French Onion Soup for a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

We arrive on 5/4 and were "upgraded to an "oceanview" room on the 10th floor. knowing the rather scathing reviews of the
construction/destruction of the nextdoor hotel, we were at least
aprehensive. The next 2 days were very good, with us having
the breakfast buffet and enjoying the beach, directly in front of
the hotel. The weather was great and having lunch at the nearby pool restaurant was relaxing. On monday the noise from the construction next door was obvious, if not annoying. it
was before *am, as opposed to the front desks assurance that
noting happened until 9. that being addressed, it was not so bad as we are not late sleepers and had a day away from the
hotel planned. i might ad that we were pleased and surprised that the Hilton delivered a nice wine and chocolate-covered strawberries for my birthday!
The next day was fine at the hotel, and the staff, as usual,
was very accomdatating as it was our last day at the hotel.
So, all in all, it was a nice stay and the hotel and the staff made a good impression so that we would consider staying
there again in a heartbeat.

We've stayed at this hotel several times and always had a good experience. Apparently since we were there last they now require you to pay $8/day for self parking! We found this very disappointing.
