“Could (probably was) be so much better”
Reviewed 9 April 2012

Staff were on the main very good but the whole place felt dated, no wifi , lots of concrete, tired rooms, sad pool, scrappy beach. Also when the room is a double and a sofa pull out, a simple divider down the middle would make it far more comfortable. Would love to know who designed the room as most of it is a corridor (supposed to be dressing room ) with cupboards and a sink, and a kitchen. The bathroom is very poor and the water pressure in the shower in just ok. My main tip is not to eat here as it feels like disney world, guests and 'members' only, and the food is poor at best, they really should take a look at what can be done by visiting dry dock grill. If they spend the money they are talking it will be great, otherwise (as with much in the area) best to look a little further north.

Room Tip: Sea View a must

The resort is absolutely breath-taking, especially the views from the suites. The beach area is well-maintained with lounge chairs, and umbrellas. The rooms are clean, and spacious. Sleeping with our patio doors open listening to the waves at night was wonderful! Our suite was about $540 per night, plus tax, plus a 24.00 resort fee. I've stayed in better places for less money. Drinks and food were also overpriced and always included 20% and tax, as you can leave the resort and find amazing food elsewhere for less.
We were married there at sunset, which was the perfect location for a wedding. The wedding coordinator, Whitney, communicated well with me the entire 8 months leading up to the wedding. She was great! We originally wanted an ocean front room, but were told we had to have a suite ( more $) in case of rain. Everything was set up...... 8 chairs for $1070.00. There were supposed to be little towels for guests feet as they came off the beach; however, those were not there. All other vendors, (flowers etc) were from outside the resort.
Our wedding pictures are amazing and you can't put a price on them!

The rooms are wonderful and very large. We stayed on the bayside which I would do it again because those views are worth the extra time it takes to walk to the pool. No meaningful nightlife and nothing really interesting to do other than be with your family and friends. Singles need not apply

The staff from the front desk, managers and wait staff were extrememly helpful. Gloria, the concierge was gracious and fun to speak with. Our gulf suite room was fabulous with a full kitchen,washer/dryer and double terrace..with well appointed amenities and decorated with taste! Had 2 breakfasts/light dinner...not disappointed at all..quality is what they serve here. For Valentine's Day there was a complimentary chocolate dipping buffet with a variety of fruit, pretzels, etc...a nice touch. A gal/guy were playing on the small stage near the bar each night performing music from the 70's and on...Of course, requests were taken and performed. The ocean was only 66 temp. so we were disappointed but found solace in the warm pool/jacuzzi...Just walking on the beach brings a feeling of serenity and joy. If you enjoy birds..there are many species here sometimes just waiting for you to photograph them.and all around the resort! .We found for the most part the guests were friendly and engaging. My husband and I do enjoy meeting new people wherever we are travelling and find this adds to our experience...but maybe not for everyone. Yes, St. Armands Circle is a close drive with many restaurants to choose from....Crab and Fin (not inexpense, but great food), Lynch's (Irish fare) and very reasonable and reliable..a local place to grab a beer and some fish n/chips for example. Downtown Sarasota is really growing and lots of places to enjoy and hangout. Mattison's very reliable with a stage/live music. A drive to Santa Maria Island heading out of the resort and taking a left is a throwback to our hippie days. We look forward to experience the Longboat Key Club and Resort in the very near future...Keep up the great work!

Room Tip: There are buildings with 10 floors and 4 floors. Some are located on the golf course, lagoon or gul...

The Longboat Key Club is enjoyable, though i'm not sure how it got it's Triple A Four Diamond Rating. The beach was great, amazingly shallow for at least 100 yards into the Gulf. Service in the restaurant was slow at times, but once the waiter arrived, things got better. We did have an issue with the bartender one night. She seemed to favor the regulars, ignoring us. Once this was brought to the attention of the manager, he more than made up for it, comping our drink and dessert. Room had fingerprints on the back of the bathroom door that never did get cleaned during our stay. Overall, it was a relaxing stay, with some minor misses.

Room Tip: Go for the extra 50 square feet and Gulf view.
