longboat key is a fabulous little town. the traffic is minimal. the beaches are pristine and quiet. the sand is soft and white. great place for a weekend getaway. the diplomat is a small two story condo complex. office staff was pleasant. grounds are kept well. inside of our second story unit was clean and neat. stocked with all kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom items. the beach was literally down the stairs and a few steps away. only two negatives really: the a/c unit is right outside the bedroom window. and it was very very loud. every time it kicked on and off it woke us up. the other is the value.

We love staying at places like The Diplomat. You cannot beat waking up every morning with the ocean just in steps away.

We were in unit 262. The view from our deck was amazing as it overlooked both the pool and the beach/ocean.

Our unit was very clean, the kitchen seemed newly remolded with granite countertops. It had everything we needed and more. The unit had folding chairs and beach umbrellas and we can't say enough about the wonderful people in the office.Very friendly, kind and helpful.

We would stay here again! Perfect location! Thank you for providing such a peaceful and clean home away from home for your guests.

This is the fourth time we have stayed and it is just so nice. We were on the first floor this time which was fine, the views are still good but the convenience of just walking out and being on the grass or beach was a nice change. We stayed in 237 which was close to the end so you don't have lots of people walking back and forth. So nice this one had central air. That was a bonus. There are many high rise places in Longboat but this is perfect for us.

Room Tip: Try to get one of the end units as you have less traffic in front of your room

The condo unit we staying in, 254, is a large studio that is amazing! It's right on the beach, literally the front to back unit has an ocean front door that directly opens onto the pool and the beach! The bathroom has been thoroughly renovated and it looks great. New furnishings and décor, full kitchen, clean, with no-hassle parking. Very laid back and cozy place to stay. Very convenient layout at the Diplomat. I'd definitely go back!

Room Tip: Unit 254 -- we've stayed twice here

We stayed in room 254 and the bathroom was renovated recently and is nice and modern, loved the vanity light fixtures. This room is on the second floor with beautiful views of the Gulf and beach--spectacular sunset viewing. Nice beach like decor, fully equipped kitchen, cable TV. Very comfortable. All the units are front to back and have Gulf views and there is easy parking. The staff is very friendly and the property is kept very nicely. It's a great small resort to relax all day or a comfortable quiet place to come home to after shopping at St. Armand's Circle or seeing sights like the Ringling Museum. We just love the area, very pretty, relaxed with plenty to do or not do as you please. John Durante Park a couple miles north is a nice place with a walkway through the mangrove forest. A very nice Publix supermarket is nearby and a CVS. There's a sandwich shop across the street, open for breakfast and lunch and a beach store next to that for suits, towels etc. Overall we loved are stays there, have been twice and stayed in unit 254 both times and had a wonderful break from the cold weather up north!

Room Tip: We stayed on second floor unit, better views, probably less foot traffic past room
