Wonderful place to walk around and view wildlife. Plenty of picnic tables here would be a fun place to enjoy outdoor dining. Just a note, porta potties are your only restroom source when the visitors center is closed!! Bring water to drink and sunscreen and bug spray! Paths around wetlands are gravel and rough. We saw wild pigs on the pathways as well as armadillo, alligators, marsh rabbits and many birds. A word of advise, some narrow trails like Marsh Rabbit have gators that “block the trail” while sunbathing making your back tracking trip pretty long. Lots of owls right now. Plan on spending at least 3-4 hours and maybe longer. We arrived at sunrise and enjoyed the tranquility.
