Just returned from a 3 night stay at Tranquility Bay with my husband and kids(12 and 16). The resort is beautiful with lush landscaping and a quaint village feel. We had room #32 which is near the family pool, but still close to the beach. The pool was great -- quite large and you could take noodles and rafts and other pool toys in it. We saw some of the most gorgeous sunsets on the beach at Tranquility Bay. The resort is located in the perfect spot for exploring the rest of the Keys, also. We spent time at the Dolphin Research Center and did a day trip into Key West.

There were a few negative points which kept me from giving the resort 5 stars. The floors in our unit were dirty, leaving our white socks brown. There are no pot holders or other kitchen towels in the kitchens. Had to use hand towels from the bathrooms in order to get our garlic bread out of the oven. And our initial check in agent completely ignored our request for a room near the family pool and close to beach. Another agent, Jay, overheard which room he was putting us in(by adult pool and FAR from beach) and suggested that, if we were willing to wait 40 minutes a room which matched our requests would be ready. We waited and it was perfect!

Overall the resort was lovely and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed at Tranquility Bay for 3 nights in April 2011. I can't say enough wonderful things about our experience ... from the ease of "check-in" for a late arrival (which meant we called ahead and they left our key under the mat -- and we actually showed our faces at reception the next morning), to the fun & tasty drinks at TJ's Tiki Bar, to the gorgeous sunsets along the Gulf, to the amazing two-bedroom unit that we stayed in ... it was all FABULOUS!

This resort is family-friendly ... but also very appropriate for adult-only guests. The unit that we stayed in was quiet and filled with all the amenities that anyone would need -- couch & tv ... full kitchen ... 2.5 bathrooms ... 2 bedrooms with very comfortable beds ... laundry facilities ... and two outdoor seating areas for overlooking the property and Gulf. We took advantage of relaxing out on both of our patios -- with a few drinks in hand and a room-service pizza ... after a hard day of sitting in the sun/shade and enjoying the cool Gulf Breezes.

Although the resort is right along side US 1 ... the property was well-planned to limit noise from the passing traffic. We did not have any issues with road noise and/or extra resort noise from our location in #62. We also appreicated that all of the resort-features = restaurant, bar, Tiki bar, beach, dock, pool, etc. was conveniently located and within a 5 minute walk.

We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing here at Tranquility Bay. It was the perfect end to a wonderful, whilr-wind vacation ... our time here allowed us the opportunity to just sit & relax with our toes in the sand & enjoy the beauty of the keys ... from sunrise and sunset -- with a siesta in between ... we can't wait until we can return to Tranquility Bay.

We just finished our family summer vacation at Tranquility Bay Resort. Wow, we had the best time with our 16 and 19 yr. old kids. The facility is excellent and the grounds are beautiful. Our house had easy access to the adult pool, and we spent the afternoons relaxing at the pool. You will have to go to the Tiki Bar to get your drinks, no pool side service. We ate dinner twice at the Butterfly Cafe and would recommend it; you will need a reservation. The prices were no higher than other establishments. Drinks are on the expensive side ($10 for tropical drinks) but there are daily specials. Another great restaurant was the Sunset Grille down by the 7-mile bridge. Go to Winn Dixie or Publix for breakfast and lunch items, we ate breakfast and lunch at the house.

For activities, our kids enjoyed the dolphin encounter (swim with the dolphins) at the Dolphin Research Center - about 20 minutes away. Its expensive but worth the money, and it all goes to a good cause. We recommend the skorkeling which leaves right from the resort. After a 40 minute boat ride out to the reef we spent over 2 hours snorkeling with the beautiful fish. The water sports activities at the resort were convenient, reasonably priced, and fun. We used the kayaks and took out a jet ski.

Beautiful resort, well groomed landscape, awesome pool, kid friendly and parent friendly. Rented a car but didn't need to use it much; that in itself was a vacation! Dolphin research center and turtle hospital were big hits. Butterfly cafe was Fantastic and Lazy Days just down the street was great too and much cheaper. We needed a spring break vacation this year for scheduling purposes, but are already thinking about returning again next April. Unit 19 turned out to be perfectly located for people with young kids. Right off the parking lot, no hauling groceries a long distance. Right near pool entrance for bathroom trips, and a balcony view of the zero entry side of pool. Parent on nap duty can still watch the kids play from upstairs balcony and feel part of the fun:)

We've stayed at Tranquility Bay several times and will stay again. Marathon may be what Key West was 50 or more years ago. Plenty of open air restaurants but not the huge crowds of the Key West today. However, each trip to Marathon we took a day trip down to Key West. TBBHR is a complex of townhomes, 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms. We've always stayed in the 3 bedroom because we've traveled as a group of 6 people. All units are located on the beach (which is unique in much of the Keys) or around the gardens with pools. It's a very kid's friendly place to stay but wouldn't drive adult’s nuts because one of the pools is kids free. Our 14 year old son was in the adult pool with us and no cared since he's pretty calm and mature. All the staff is friendly and helpful, especially Gerson, Otis and Angie. The bartenders at the Tiki Bar are super too. We spent a lot of time sitting in the Tiki Bar looking out to the ocean. We'll be back!
