Nice, clean accommodations. Great for couples and families alike. It was great to have a kitchen. Note that nothing is provided here except a small bar of soap. No hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, etc., and there are no basics in the kitchen either, like salt/pepper or coffee. We had a really nice stay here and would like to return!

We stayed at Kon-Tiki from 1/26-28/18, Unit #9 and had a great time. In all the years that we have been going to the Keys, we pass by the Kon-Tiki but we never imagined that it was so nice. We actually thought it was a trailer park. The room and the resort was clean, the front desk attendant was very friendly. The resort has that keys feeling that we are losing with the newer construction. The boat ramp is excellent. Also, the resort is centrally located, within walking distance, to different restaurants. We are definitely returning and recommending to our friends and families.

I lived in the Keys for 3 years and after hearing about all the damage from Hurricane Irma, I wanted to take a visit to support the community as I heard the tourist population was way down. My parents and I stayed at the Kon Tiki Resort from 21-23 December 2017 and were very happy with the stay. Jennifer greeted us on the 21st and was very pleasant and helpful. We stayed in unit 11; which was clean and large enough for the 3 of us. It has a nice screened in porch, the furniture inside the unit was clean and didn’t smell of smoke. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. It is a great place for someone who has a boat as they have their own place launch and keep your boat while there. We did not have the opportunity to use the pool but did check out the area and it was very clean. There were two drawbacks - the A/C in unit #11 is very loud! It did cool the place down but was super noisy. Two of us in my party were never able to connect to the WiFi, we did let the front desk know but I took that as a sign that I should disconnect from electronics and relax. Of course the “piss ants” as I call them never fail to show up. As long as we kept the counters dry and clear of any food (we stored in the fridge and microwave) we were able to control them. We did not see any other bugs and I know after living in the Keys that these teeny, tiny ants are everywhere and have nothing to do with the cleanliness of the place. I would recommend staying here and would definitely come back for another visit.

This property is so charming, the rooms immaculately clean day after day. However, failure to pay attention to detail leads to a rather uncomfortable stay.

To start with, the TV and internet simply do not work. A front desk agent said that they have had issues since Hurricane Irma, and if so, fair play, but they should certainly warn guests prior to arrival or offer a discounted rate. Aside from that, the staff are polite and accommodating.

The weather turned on us an was unexpectedly cold, in the 40s at night. Without a heater, we were absolutely freezing in our room. The first couple nights were warm enough to have the fan or AC on, but we woke unable to breath freely. Upon inspection of the AC unit, we found high levels of mold. We decided to keep it off after that.

The walls of the rooms are paper thin. There was a family staying beside us and their screaming children were a constant annoyance. Not to mention they parked their second vehicle to block our entrance (see photo) and someone put their disgusting Coors Light empty beer can in our outside space.

The shower has great water pressure, but you get about 5 minutes of hot water. If you have two people to shower you need to wait an hour for it to warm up again.

On a rather odd note, my toothbrush and half of the container it was being kept in disappeared from the bathroom. Since the bathroom is small and the toothbrush was kept on the side of the counter near the trash, we assumed the maid simply dropped it in the trash mistakingly when cleaning and subsequently took the trash out. After a long work day, coming back to no toothbrush was rather frustrating. The staff took no responsibility, claiming I must have lost it. They were defensive saying I could leave a wedding ring out and it wouldn't get taken. We were not accusing anyone of theft, but a note apologizing or a new toothbrush would have been nice. Instead we had to go back out and purchase a new one late at night. To top it off, it had been my expensive bamboo toothbrush.

We paddleboarded behind the property for a couple hours the day of arrival. We saw only a few small fish in the mangroves. Lots of algae patches and where seagrass was still present, large engine streaks from boats speeding in shallow water were present. We witnessed a boat speeding in to dock at the property...it left a visible scar in the seagrass. Throughout the Keys, complete disrespect for the natural world is present everywhere you go. American tourists are rather obnoxious and ignorant. I was quite fearful to continue paddleboarding with the boat traffic.

we previously stayed ocean side so this was our first time bayside and we loved the kon tiki we had absolutely no complaints and met some nice people. The fire on the beach was nice and the fish cleaning station is up tp date with a lite for late fish cleaning, there were some manatee and sharks swimming around, and there is a small lagoon, we already booked for next year!
