We read all of the reviews prior to going and so we can now understand the positives and negatives that had been posted about Casa Morada. While we really enjoyed our stay and found it very a very relaxing place to spend the week, particularly in this Covid period.
The good-> Beautiful spot on the keys, never crowded, no kids, nice pool and bar area (with a lovely bar tender that was great), great yoga classes (that we were able to also do privately), nice daily breakfast with opportunity to order lunch (from a great sandwich shop down the road), kayaks / paddle boards, bocce court, bikes, spacious rooms with beautiful views (we were facing bay).
What we thought was missing -> very low on amenities - no servicing of rooms during a full week stay and very limited staff around to assist, rooms are clean and adequate for a stay, but not luxurious. Can understand why some would say they are overpriced but you are paying for the location and privacy you get.
We visited Cheeca Lodge and some of the other larger hotels during our stay and were very happy we had selected Casa Morada. We would have hated staying at those places. The restaurants there are also tourist traps.
Walking distance to Lorileis for drinks and lunch and many great restaurant very close by. Loved Chef Michaels, Meze, Lazy Days, and Lorileis. Tried to get into Square Grouper and Green Turtle Inn but lines were too long - no reservations at these places -- that's just craziness during a holiday week!
Would definitely recommend Casa Morada but just know what to expect before you go and you won't be disappointed.
Others have mentioned, but mixed drinks at the bar only feature saki because they do not have a liquor license. We were fine with the beers and wine and other selections but others might be annoyed.More
