Headed to Key West with my husband and some friends for a long weekend get-a-way... Stayed at the Palms Hotel.

The hotel grounds are very pretty and well maintained. The rooms are kept clean and smell good but are very small especially the bathrooms.

The hotel is pretty close to a lot of things but still a good distance for peace and quiet. But if you like the hustle and bustle of Key West then this is not the hotel for you.

The hotel prices are good if you actually took the time to search in the area the rooms are pretty pricey in Key West.

The pool area is nice and the continental breakfast is simple and lite but if you want a BIG breakfast then you will need to find a place.

All in all this is a good hotel, and would recommend it to my fellow travelers…

I enjoyed this hotel. The furniture and room were clean, but older. There was an issue with a water leak in the bathroom ceiling. They were planning on fixing it after we checked out. I would have preferred that they had move us, but this wasn't the case. The room was pretty well insulated, sound from adjacent rooms was very low so this was great. It's in a cute neighborhood and about a 20 minute walk from Duval St. Has a pool and a grill on a patio to the side.
Phillip at the office was wonderful and accomodating in every way! The woman who works in the office, however, was less than welcoming and on the verge of being incredibly rude.
Overall we had a good stay and would come again..but don't lose a room key, there is a hefty fee for having to re-key everything.

Stayed at The Palms 3/10 - 3/13/12, good stop, nice clean room, good staff, the fellow working the breakfast buffet did a nice job. Going back to Key West for Fantasy Fest and made reservations to go back to The Palms.

We pre-booked this place sight unseen (on-line photos only) and went in with what I believe were realistic expectations. Those were, accomodations in KW are pricey and due to the fact that they have a relatively captive clientel once there, they don't need to overdo it on the service end of things.
The room, which we were told we got well below market somehow at $175+ tax, etc. was the quality of a room you would expect to pay < $60 per night for most other places on the mainland. But - this is Key West. It was clean but very small once the King Size bed was added. The flooring was inexpensive laminate and amply scuffed up. The bathroom was microscopic - a one person in the room at-a-time affair. Regulating hot/cold water in the shower was 'interesting' to say the least.
We lucked out and got one of their four on-site (free) parking spots behind the building and didn't dare move the car until we left.
The continental breakfast they provide by the in the Tiki Hut pool each morning was certainly adequate - although not extravagant. The roosters crowing in the neighbourhood was a novel wake-up call strategy.
The pool and surrounding courtyard was lovely! The other guests were a diverse group and very friendly. The front porch on the property is outstanding.
They rent bicycles for a very small charge and they are a terrific way to get around the area.
Unfortunately on our travels around the island we lost one of the two room keys provided. It's important to note that the key tags provide NO INFORMATION about which property they belong to - just a Rm #.
In the 'fine print' of our registration sign-in documentation they had provided notice that a lost key would cost $125 ... ostensibly because they had to have a locksmith re-key the room entirely. What!? Why!?. We expected that there "may' be some little charge to replace a lost key and would have been happy to pay a reasonable cost for this but $125!?
We of course protested but were told that there was no flexibility in this policy. The only thing we could do would be to contact the Owner/Manager (Emily Griffin) during the Monday to Friday work week and express our disappointment. We did not bother because being told "tough, that's our policy" was frustrating enough once, why would be bother to do it again - particularly AFTER they had their money and we had left the area?
Although the atmosphere around the pool is neat, travelers may be better off at one of the several large chain properies in the area where they have more current properties, policies (and door locks!)

We were looking for a hotel with a pool that was pet friendly. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was minimal, but free. We didn't move the car. Walked everywhere. Dog needed to be crated if we weren't in room. Other guests were from all over, interesting chats. Pool was clean. Overall quiet Would stay here again
