Arrived early morning, drop off luggage. We could see the location was great. Returned to the Guest House and finally checked in around 4. Given a tour of the pool area and the Honor System for Beer and Water. The owner Steve discussed Happy hour and Breakfast. Gave us directions to the room, and off we went upstairs. Room had a strong scent in it, so we knew the first stop would be a Freeze Breaze run. Pillows and bed covers looked new, but the bed was the worst ever. The mattress had to be very old and wore out. The upkeep was out of date, when you open the drawers it backed you up with a very strong odor. But it is an old B&B. The room was not very clean, especially the bathroom. Informed Stephen the owner and he agreed to tidy it up. Not very much improvement, but we tolerate it. Breakfast was good, fruit, bagels, pastry, cereals, etc. Happy hour was fine, but very short. I would say the strongest point is the location if you desire to be close to some of the loud bars.

My wife and I just returned from a 3 night stay (April 30-May 4). It was our first visit to the mansion (2nd trip to Key West). We stayed in Room #12 which has excellent access directly to the clothing-optional pool. This was our first experience with a c/o pool, and found it very relaxing and friendly. it took my wife a little longer to partake, but all those who choose to wear suits are welcome as well. The people are so friendly and down to earth. Steve is an excellent host, always making sure that the guests are happy. Thel location is only 1/2 block to Duval and within a 10 minute walk to most sites on the island. Breakfast was expanded contiential and there was always enough there to eat. Enhoyed sitting onthe front porch in the AM and waving to the tourists on the Conch train passing by. You WILL not go wrong by staying here. We hope to return again.

Second time staying here, first time with new manager Steve. Steve is a great host who works a LOT of hours to be sure your stay is enjoyable. His wife Jackie was only there on the weekend but was a pleasure to talk with.
The rooms vary quite a bit in size. We stayed in #20, which is large, and has direct access to the pool from the second floor veranda. We did get to see some of the other rooms, each having its own charm. All were kept neat and clean by the staff who were always efficient and very polite. The roosters crowing all the time is a character of Key West, and you soon become used to it.
The clothing optional pool is one of the highlights of the mansion. It is only 5 feet deep at the deepest, making it a great pool to just cool off in, or, best yet, to meet and chat with other guests. It was well attended, has a very affordable honor bar with soda, water an beer. Clean towels every day, heated and open 24/7. (great way to settle down after a night on the town) My wife and I made several friends there, some of whom we even went out to dinner with. The breakfast is absolutely great with a large choice of cereal, fresh cut fruit, yogurt, pastries, bagles, english muffins, juice, coffee...wow! The afternoon happy hour is another wonderful opportunity to chat with other guests and get your evening activities off to a great start. The location is perfect for all the nightime activities.(and daytime as well) Very close walking distance yet far enough away so as not to be kept awake by them. My wife and I have reserved again for next year and highly recommend Marrero's. Kudos to Steve and the staff. Thank you!

Marrero's is a little piece of heaven in heaven. Steve, the proprietor of the inn was very helpful, wonderful and respectful. We stayed in Rooms 22 and 17 and couldn't be more satisfied. Both had entrances to an outside balcony. Watching the pace of Key West on the balcony was restful and enjoyable for people watching The mansion is well appointed with antiques and unique features of yesteryear. The mansion is very well located in downtown Key West and as advertized is only a few steps from all of the action on Duval Street. The "Happy Hour" was a very nice touch and wonderfull way to meet all of the other guests and discuss dinner and nightlife plans. Be sure not to miss it. The 24-hour clothing optional pool area was real nice, well used, and warm. The pool area is secluded, very tropical, and well used. I spent my first whole day there just relaxing and floating while getting a great all over tan and meeting the most interesting people. The honor bar was very convenient and a nice touch. My wife and I had a great time at Marrero's and will definitely be back in the future.

Our stay was wonderful. Although we had one of the smallest rooms (16), we thought that the service and amenities offered at Marrero's were fantastic. Others have complained about the noise of the roosters or the bars on Duval, but I am a light sleeper and neither of those were noisy enough to keep me awake.

Steve is a great host who works tirelessly to make sure that his guests have their needs met. He gave us tons of recommendations for restaurants, bars and activities. He keeps the pool towels and the pool honor bar well stocked.

We will definitely be back and are looking forward to our next stay!
