This is a great little place we went for a weekend with friends, first time KW trip for all of us. We got rooms on the side of the house right next door to each other, very quiet and private. The rooms weren't real big but they weren't too small, nice cozy rooms. Exactly what you expect at an older KW B&B. Nicely decorated, comfortable furnishings, beautiful surroundings and a great location. Nancy the manager is a gem! Lots of fun and full of laughs. If you never venture away from the Garden House Nancy will keep you well entertained during you entire stay! The breakfast is tasty and the company enjoyable. Very relaxed friendly atmosphere, it felt like we were visiting old friends. Since our stay we've been back to KW, we didn't stay at Garden House this time but we stopped by to see our "old friend" Nancy and share a few more laughs for a while. I would stay again there's just so many great B&B's in KW I want to try them all! I would definitely recommend Garden House as a great place to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Bougainvillea room and our friends stayed in the adjacent room the Hibiscus. Both share a large semi-private deck, which has access to the front yard and pool area. These two lodgings are perfect for couples traveling together: plenty of common space and plenty of privacy.

don't go to this B&B unless you enjoy rotted baseboards, a HORRIBLE mattress, teeny-tiny shower (ladies, you won't be able to shave your legs!), wallboard that is swollen and split, a wicker chair that has been used as a scratching post by the resident cat, broken dresser drawer, broken blinds, broken bi-fold closet door, dingy curtains, dead frog floating in the 'pool' (oversized bathtub) -- well, you get the picture.
at happy hr i was handed a glass of wine in a dirty glass - even had old lipstick on it!!! that was my last attendance at happy hr. the grounds could also use some attention.
we weren't expecting the Ritz but we were hoping for at least a decent place.
this B&B does have a very good location and is a cute old structure -- but it needs serious work. the photos are deceptive - they must have been taken quite some time ago.
DO NOT CONFUSE THIS PLACE WITH THE GARDENS - a very upscale, well-maintained inn. spend a little more money and stay away from the Garden House! there are plenty of other good choices in key west.

We stayed in Garden House B&B for a weekend with friends. We had two rooms with a shared bathroom. Rooms were clean but very basic and one was quite small. The manager Nancy (crazy Nancy as her baseball cap says) was very funny, seem a bit disorganised but she got things done. The pool was small but it was lovely for cooling off after a hot day in Key West. Unfortunately, there is no coffee making facility and breakfast is not until 8.30am (the coffee was excellent when it arrived) Breakfast was very basic but it was good.
The location is within walking distance of everything but bikes are available to rent onsite. I look forward to staying here again.

Room Tip: We did not get the best rooms, book well in advance!

My husband and I recently stayed here for two nights in the Royal Poinciana room. The room, advertised as one of the most highly sought rooms on the website, is very outdated, shabby, and in need of work. The paint is peeling, the shower is way too small for a normal size person, the furniture was broken in the adjoining private patio, and isn't very secure. The pool is VERY small and is only three feet deep. The courtyard, where breakfast and happy hour is served seems cluttered and unkempt. Breakfast is a self-serve assortment of packaged, store bought bakery items, yogurt, juice, and coffee. The happy hour consists of some beers and inexpensive wines. The staff was helpful and the location was very convenient. However, these cannot make up for the poor condition of the property.

Room Tip: Find another bed and breakfast.

The Garden house has not received the updates that other historic inns have (ie the Key Lime House). However, the proximity to Duval St and the waterfront was great. The room was clean and nice enough but could use a little updating, everything worked and the bed was comfy. The breakfsast was typical bagels etc but is welcomed when you don't want to go too far for coffee. The property is two or three blocks to a couple breakfast places as well as all the activites at the pier end of Duval including sunsett cruises and several restaurants and bars.

Room Tip: Our room was right nest to the breakfast set up which starts at 8:30am a little early for us so if you want to sleep in I would suggest asking for a room away from this area.
