Located in a 1902 Victorian house with jungle like gardens in back where you have breakfast outside . Each room is different and lovely. We had the Audubon room with access out French doors to the garden, breakfast and the small pool/hot tub. If you check on line you can find good pictures of each room. The breakfasts were quite good, the first morning it was a quiche, the second day ricotta pancakes and the last day it was a frittata. It's located within walking distance to all the action on Duval street. Oh, they also have free parking , we didn't move our car until the day we left Key West. The hosts are very helpful and pleasant.

Visited for a few days in July and stayed in the Garden Room. The room was quaint and is known for the glass shower. We were a little surprised that the glass shower can be seen from the patio, which can be viewed from the outside. Another room opens to the same patio and can view the shower as well as a small hallway from inside the house. One afternoon we were showering when a little girl kept running from the pool into the main house by the shower. We were completely unnerved and finished quickly. Please be aware that from this room others walking by can see shapes showering inside.

Also there are no small refrigerators in the rooms but you share with all the other guests. We had used the fridge at one point with desert items inside. When we went to retrieve the items in the fridge, someone had helped themselves to our food.

The warm breakfast items each morning were very delicious. The hosts are also very nice.

We're really sorry the glass brick shower didn't work for you. We've had a continuous flow of guests in that room for the twenty years it's been installed and only 1 other person has ever felt concerned about it. The glass brick is opaque, not clear, with a cross-hatched grid textured surface, and there are large potted plants in front of it. We're sorry you felt this way and didn't tell us. We might have had another room to offer you.

We're happy you enjoyed the breakfasts and our staff. Thanks for staying with us.

All the best,

We stayed at the Mermaid & the Alligator over July 4th and recommend it highly! Rebecca went above and beyond in helping us plan our trip before we even arrived. We stayed in the Treetop room and it was like our personal hideaway. Rebecca, Geri, Victor and the rest of the staff were attentive and helpful in every way. Can't recommend this B&B highly enough!

Room Tip: All rooms are private and impeccably appointed

We enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Mermaid & the Alligator so much...we were sad to leave. Geri, Victor, Rebecca & the staff were all very nice and went out of their way to suggest places to see, restaurants to try and just great to have conversations with.
Looking forward to staying here again on our next visit to Key West!

Room Tip: All rooms looked great...we had the lower level Garden Room which was delightful!

When asked where to stay for an upcoming trip to Key West, I immediately suggested the Mermaid and The Alligator where I had stayed 9 years previously. Geri, Rebecca, Victor and the rest of the staff were welcoming and our rooms were very pleasant. A hot breakfast served every morning poolside as well as the lemonade and cookies and wine in the evenings made a most pleasant addition to our stay. Geri was a gem in helping us secure restaurant reservations, scooters to get around town, and in getting a cake ordered for my sister and her husband's anniversary meal. I would stay here again if coming to Key West and highly recommend that others do also.

Room Tip: If you like a quieter room that is spacious, try the Bamboo room in the little adjoining cottage.

Greetings from The Mermaid & The Alligator and staff,

I'm so glad everything worked out so well for you. It was such fun meeting all of you, and being "in" on the surprise for your sister and her husband's anniversary. That's one example of why I love my job! I hope you all can make it back again.

Wishing you many more outstanding trips together!
