Beautiful and charming 100 year old resort. 100% modernized with the old word charm left. So much class. Great staff. Especially Max, Mark, and Gram - the guys that took great care of us at the pool / beach.

Highly recommend this place. Can't imagine staying anywhere else in Key West.

Upon checking in we were greeted by the most rudest, cold and discurteous check in clerk. After very rudely telling us we were unable to have a pool or sea facing room, even though we had booked this place in Jan, he told us he had arranged a beautiful "island room" which is basically a room overlooking a parking lot on the Island of Key West! no balcony A/C broken down and toilet that was blocked, After calling the front desk and asking for the Manager I was informed the Guy who had checked us in was the Manager and there was nothing he could do to move us. I was travelling with my 2 year old daughter and wife who is 6 months pregnant, he very abrubtly and rudely cut us off. Next day we went to check out and met with a wonderful Manger called Steve who rectified the situation immediately and asked us to stay, who was extremely sympathetic and apologetic for his rude colleague. The guys at the pool were great as were the Valet who were great hosts and also did the job as Concierge recommending great restaurants as every time we called there was no answer, shame one person managed to spoil our Casa Marina experience...

The Casa Marina was exactly what we were looking for. We have a family of four with two teenagers. We wanted a nice beach, a good location, and a nice view. While it is a bit more $ than other hotels in the area, it was well worth it as we got all of these things at Casa Marina. We drove in from Ft. Lauderdale and the parking situation was so easy with a large lot accross the street from the resort lobby. We were free to come and go as we wanted for $18/day. We could run out for food, beer, etc. and be back within a few minutes. The beach was perfect with a ton of chairs, plenty of space, waitress service, and a beautiful setting. The two pools and the beach bar were very nice and convenient. We went out to eat in town most nights to try out some different things, so we didn't do much with the food at the resort. We did have some wings and they were really good. We were near the Southernmost Point, so Mallory Square was on the other end of the island, which was fine. It is an easy drive or taxi to there. Our room was a simple double/double on the first floor with a sliding door that went out to our private patio and a path onto the beach......very convenient and extremely nice. I would recommend this exact type of room if you can get one. You can walk from the beach to your own bathroom or refrigerator throughout the day. We also were next to Barefoot Billy's waverunner rentals. We took a 2 hour tour on the waverunners and it was a lot of fun. $300 for two waverunners, two people on each.....highly recommended. Overall, a great 5 day vacation!

Room Tip: Our room was a simple double/double on the first floor with a sliding door that went out to our priv...

Four nights in April could easily have turned into more. While not flawless, the facilities and staff of Casa Marina were excellent. Despite staying "free" with HiltonHHonors points, we were upgraded to a Casa Grand Ocean Vista room with a large private terrace in the historic portion of the hotel. The second floor terrace overlooked the pools with the beach in the distance. The terraces are not entirely private since windows from other rooms overlook the space and each terrace is separated by partitions but they feel private. The room (262) was large, well maintained and simply but tastefully appointed with multiple windows. Though in the end what little time awake was spent in the room was actually spent out on the private terrace with its chairs, lounges, and umbrella.

The hotel is on the south side of the island, directly on the ocean with a private beach for the resort. Although surrounded by tourist oriented facilities, the south side of Key West feels worlds away from the more mass-produced tourist inundated north end of Duval Street. We found the south end of Duval and the surrounding neighborhoods to be slower paced. Despite being at around 93% occupancy during our stay, Casa Marina felt busy but not overwhelmed. The hotel had plenty of staff, all of them courteous, with many providing very strong service. We parked the car upon arrival and didn't touch it again until departure, walking everywhere but one cab ride.

The beach got crowded and hammocks under the palms got full during the day but it was still easy to relax. Since it was almost full during our stay, I feel comfortable in believing that it would never get too crazy. At the same time a visitor would be challenged to find solitude during the bulk of the day but late evenings got quiet. We never utilized the pools but they were very popular. It was notably windy during most of our stay and the April water temperature seemed to keep the majority out of the ocean but we found the temperature fine after a brief adjustment.

As a Waldorf Astoria branded property, amenities do not come cheap but we anticipated that. The breakfast menu or buffet was pricey but both the buffet and made to order food quality was very good. Dealing with a food allergy was trickier than expected as it wasn't easy for staff to determine ingredients but we did have a few staff go out of their way to help. When factoring juice, coffee and other aspects, the pricey buffet is still probably the best deal. The breakfast setting was busy but lovely when served out on the terrace. The only other on-property alternative is the gift shop which actually had fresh fruit, pastry, and coffee at a moderate price.

The single fine dining restaurant seemed sparsely utilized for dinner but the small sampling we had was quite good. At lunch it was more informal and much busier. Overall we were happy with the quality of the food throughout. The indoor bar was all but closed during our stay but the outdoor pool and beach-side bar was hopping. It opened early and stayed open late but didn't prove too noisy from our room our terrace. Unfortunately the significant cigarette smoke and high-priced but mediocre drinks detracted from our experience at the bar. Private functions on the grounds below the terraces could prove distracting for an early or light sleeper but they tended to end at a reasonably time and one felt like it gave us our own private steel-drum concert. The only other minor detraction for the hotel was the preponderance of piped in music throughout much of the grounds. Turn it off! Its a gorgeous setting and beautiful hotel. Virtually everyone always seemed to be enjoying themselves and I don't think it was because of the background music. Sitting late into the evening at the gas fire-pit adjacent to the beach, the music still overwhelmed the surf.

Despite a significant amount of alterations and upgrades over the decades, the hotel still has a historic feel to it, especially on the exterior. The setting and grounds are hard to beat, even when filled with guests. No trouble working the WiFi. Our room had a small refrigerator and safe. We never touched the flat screen tv during our stay. We were ultimately delighted with the location on the south-side of the key. The concierge directed us to a half-day kayaking and snorkeling outing that was arguably the single-best highlight of the trip but it would be a challenge to pick. The staff slipped us a late check-out when we signed up for a last minute activity before leaving and didn't pressure us to vacate the room when the activity ran long. We also really enjoyed the butterfly conservatory and had success dining in town. We'd have been happy to turn four nights into a week and look forward to going back sometime down the road. I tend to like to try other lodging on return trips but it would be hard to pry me away from the Casa Marina unless my wallet was empty.

Room Tip: Many rooms throughout the hotel appeared to have balconies and good views. The palms block a lot of...

We are returning to the Casa Marina all because of the amazing staff! When I called to make my reservations, I asked for Patrick who checked us in last year! Not only did he remember us, he spent a ton of
time with me on the phone as I asked a million questions about the rooms. THAT is the height of customer service. We can't wait to get there to see everyone who made our trip there last year so amazing.
