“If cockroaches and poor service are your thing, this place is for you..”
Reviewed 10 July 2012

We booked a two-night stay at this hotel, driving down from Miami, taking in an airboat tour on the way, which was great.

Arriving close to midnite, we were checked-in quickly, and offered a room at the front of the hotel - an upgrade. The room itself was a disappointment, as it was tired and dated.

After putting the kids straight to bed, my wife and I went to have a shower only to find cockroaches in the bathroom.

Speaking to the night guy at the front desk, we were told that all of the rooms had them, and so moving to another room was an option, but that we would probably have the same problem, as they were common at night.

We decided to check-out, and asked for assistance in booking another hotel for the night, but were told it was probably too late and so he advised us to come back and talk to the manager in the morning.

After a sweaty, mosquito ridden night sleeping in our car (It was too late to find another hotel, and we had to leave the windows open, to cope with the heat), My wife, kids, and I went back to speak to the manager to complain and to get our money back. We were told that the money would be returned to my card in a few days (it actually took over a week), given a very sharp apology, and that was it - no offer of a the opportunity to shower, or freshen up, no offer of something to drink, which given the state of my children and wife after a night in the car, was ridiculous.

From what we saw of the room, we would agree that the hotel is dated, a little shabby, and clearly overpriced due to the location, that said, most of the hotels in the area seem to be, so it pays to do some research before you book.

We ended up staying at another hotel, paying a fair bit more, but ultimately it was worth it, as the pool area and rooms were amazing, and we felt comfortable, which after all was the main thing.

When we got back to London, I wrote to both the hotel manager, and the owners of the property, but did not receive any form of response from any of them, which really sums up my whole experience of this hotel.

If you want to enjoy the Keys, avoid the Inn at Key West, pay a little more, and get peace of mind, that is my advice.

DO NOT listen to any of these negative reviews. Some people just like to complain. Came across this place online and LOVED IT. Pool was phenomenal, bar was great, bartenders were helpful and friendly. Food was delicious. The grounds are CLEAN and immaculate. The staff was constantly running around cleaning the place up. There were times when the towels were out, but honestly...who doesn't bring at least 1 or 2 of their OWN beach towels?!?! The drinks at the bar were great. Maintenance staff was helpful as well, with recommendations. Place was one of the best hotels i have ever stayed at and i CANNOT wait to return!

The hotel is clean and with a big beautiful pool. We just wished they would keep the pool open late....closing time is 10p. The hotel grounds are full of palm trees. Our king size room with balcony was clean and very modern. There is no elevators, but that wasn't an issue for us. It is away from the main attractions, but we had a rental car so it was fine. This hotel is close to the airport. No noise issues either. There is many nearby places to eat and shop. We can't say much about the food because we only ate there once and it was good. I would recommed this hotel to couples and family with children.

There is no such thing as a good and cheap hotel in Key West. You get what you pay for. We found The Inn at Key West as advertised, the pool is big and well kept. The beer is reasonable ($4.00 per aluminum bottle) and cold. The staff is pleasant and the rooms were clean. The only negative is that their restaurant closes at 6:00 pm which is really silly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor overlooking the pool.

We arrived from a flight from Miami a bit tired and was greeted with a nice reception lady. The check in process was very quick and we did not have far to move our cases. The room we had was in the other block opening out to the pool.

It was a nice room but lacked a balcony and we struggled to get things dry as we were there for 4 nights.

The Pool area is superb, one of the best hotel pools i've ever swam in. The hot tub is a great feature. You have to be quick to get a towel as there are not enough to go round. Drinks from the bar were expensive but if you do go you must try the Key Lime Cocktail (Its to die for)

The hotel location is a bit far out but that did not really bother us. I used the gym and thought it was really good for a small hotel. I paid £124 a night for this hotel and in my opinion thats to much. I would stay there again if it was priced at about £50.

I was dissapointed in Key West as its really geared for the tourists, a bit run down and very expensive. I just wanted to go to the most southern point of the states. I probably won't go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above reception
