“Great little place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2012

This is a great little place at a reasonable price in a good location. The rooms and property are clean and comfortable. It has a very B&B feel. The bar next door is open, but so are the other hundred on Duval, so I don't really understand the big deal about it being closed. You have to understand a few things about Key West - if you don't, go stay at an over-priced hotel and have your ice and coffee and fancy pool. I stayed here twice before I moved down.

These people must be going under because they no longer own the resturaunt next door so they tell me "we no longer provide Ice". Coffee was a problem too because I had to ask them to put a pot on and they didnt stroll into the office until 8:30 (all the guests would be waiting outside) We were so thirsty and we had to drink warm water out of the sink. No sitting area in rooms, little tiny mirror above sink in bathroom, no fridge, no coffee maker. Hey I can live with that but for a $150. a night hotel...damn I would like some ice please...and maybe a little coffee without feeling I put you out??? Nice rooms though if you want to sneeze your head off the minute you walk in your hotel to the minute you walk out. Nasty service,,no hospitality...oh but they do provide towels. Maybe the other reviews were good because that was before they lossed the resturaunt...ice machine must not belong to them anymore. On the last day of my trip (sunday) she had the nerve to tell me "We no longer supply coffee" "you have to go to the resturaunt next door" NO ICE...NOW NO COFFEE???? WHAT PLANET IS THIS HOTEL ON. I can ruff it...but basic water and coffee. Maybe Im overreacting but warm water out of the sink tastes like crap when you spend that much money... Pretty bad.! Do yourself a favor and run run run!

Room Tip: Bring your own ...everything

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel however, we would like to clarify a few "mistakes" in your review. The bar/restaurant is run by a seperate entity and not because the owners are "going under" and a free breakfast was available every morning between 8am and 10.30am with lots of coffee available. We did in fact provide you with ice twice per day. The room you stayed in had a sitting area with a couch and also had a nice big private porch for your enjoyment. however, we will certainly take your comments into consideration and again apologize that you did not enjoy our amenities.

When I booked at Casablanca they were very nice even when we arrived. We were looking forward to the Irish Pub, but its wasn't opened throughout our stay. The following are the pros and cons of our stay:
* Pool was kinda dirty, big saw machine laid out on the side (eye sore) and tools, upstairs wooden floors stuck out with nails, door to our room was always hard to get in (very stuck), hard mattress, not enough pillows, no drapes to cover window and block sunlight in the am, toilet was not clean, not enough towels, very hard or not all did we get wireless, let's not talk about the hot water it took time to get hot water if not at all (luckly it was a hot weekend), awnings were not on so it was very hot in the morning having breakfast, overall the place needs to be fixed.
* Staff was very nice and attended us very courteously, breakfast was fruits, crossaint, coffee and mimosa. We would stay again if and once all the above items get fixed!

My Husband and I went to Keywest to celebrate my birthday, we read reviews on Trip advisor that advised against staying at Casablanca. We booked it anyway since it was just a one night stay an it was right on Duval St. The price was also great, only slightly over 100.00 per night for the room we stayed in. The reviews we read were wrong...the people were very freindly and helpful and the place was clean. Maybe slightly under maintained but it was clean and that's what matters most. The staff was super sweet and helpful in everyway...I accidentaly book us a 2 twin bed room for my romantic Birthday get away, and there were no other rooms available. The staff pushed our beds together and remade the bed with king size linens and you would never know it wasn't a king bed. We also got up early the next day and wanted to get on the road early to start our long drive back to Fort meyers where we were staying...we got up before they were serving breakfast and again the staff accomidated us by setting us up at a little table on the front porch and serving us early. Great People and a great place to stay.

This hotel is right on Duval st great location. Our room was upstairs on the back of the property so noise was not a problem. The room was spacious very clean and cute with a nice size porch. Only complaint was that the a/c was turned on when we arrived and it never cooled down and wireless never worked.

Staff was wonderful. Definetly recommended for the location alone.

Room Tip: #5 is big and away from the busy street. Call ahead and tell them to turn the a/c on in the am befo...
