We spent four nights here and we were upgraded to a corner suite in the Marina Tower—a nice, convenient location. It was a huge room with a lot more space than we could use and it had a great view of the water and pool area. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have a fridge, great AC, and lots of storage. The resort was not too busy as we came after the holiday season. Every one of the staff we encountered was super helpful and friendly. That’s surprising at a resort of this size. The gym has lots of cardio equipment as well as weights and is kept cool, which is a plus. Our stay included the cold buffet, which was more than enough with yogurt, tons of varieties of fruit, cheese, lox, bagels, cereals, etc. if we wanted to add hot items like eggs and omelettes it was a $10 charge. Every evening they have an Eventide event with music and if your stay include drink tickets you each get one tropical drink. Don’t expect much alcohol in the drink, but it’s a nice perk nonetheless. We ate at the Sol restaurant a few times and liked it. We had salads with grilled fish. The only disappointment was Las Olas. The menu has sushi and ceviches. We each opted for a couple ceviches ranging from $18-$21 each. Perhaps we should have asked about the portion size first. The ceviches we’re about a quarter of the size we have ever seen in Mexico or California. My husband said it was more like the complimentary appetizer you sometimes get at a high end restaurant. They weren’t even that great. Despite the ceviche disappointment, the staff there, Martin and Claudia were fantastic. We didn’t have the heart to say anything about the dinky portions and went downstairs to Marea restaurant for a pizza. The pizza is very good. So have drinks at Ola and go downstairs for the pizza! Overall we loved this resort and would come again if we come back to Key Largo.More
