We live in Key Largo and have used this hotel numerous times for out of town guests and for ourselves when we have worked on our vessel. Until this visit I would have given this place a 5 star rating. Pros: Wonderful friendly staff, clean rooms, convenient, great waterfront location. Cons: Simple maintenance is not being conducted. We spent the first three nights in a small but clean and well equipped room by the road. On the last morning we awoke to 3" of water in the room. Our luggage was ruined, clothes were soaked, purse was soaked (items on the floor because there is almost table space). Housekeepers were kind enough to wash our clothes and we decided to 'write off' the rest of the damage (it was older stuff anyway). The 'manager'? on duty moved us to another room. Again, clean, simple room. We worked late and arrived back at the hotel after 10 pm. We turned oh the lights and discovered hundreds of carpenter ants all over the room. The office was closed and we really didn't want to make an 'emergency call' for ants. We thought it would get better if we turned off the lights and simply went to bed. Apparently, these ants like the beds too. We used to manage a small nearby motel and know that these are, without a doubt, maintenance issues. I spoke with a couple next door who told us of a couple of women who stayed in this room recently and experienced the same problem. Guys, sometimes you need to 'tent'. Also, if you know there is a leak in the first building, please let people know ahead of time. It wouldn't have been nearly as bad if we had been forewarned. Sometimes motel owners let things 'fall behind'. We still really like the staff, cleanliness of rooms, location, etc. but are hoping that some things change soon or we won't be back. be

I hardly go to the keys, but this weekend a friend was getting married and we needed a place to stay for just a couple of hours: good, nice, n cheap. This was the perfect place. I was actually impressed. The room was nice and very clean. Bathroom was spacious, just the shower head was a little short, (doesn't help my husband is 6'7'') I was a little disappointed I didn't have time to enjoy the water and view, but that was on my part. But I will most definite come back. P.s. Continental Breakfast included.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Gator Room

We stopped for one night as we hopped down the keys. Nice place. Loved being able to use the kayaks and bicycles!! Relaxing hammock and nice dock to fish from. The staff was very friendly. This place is older but clean. I would recommend it and would stay again.

We stayed at The Pelican for one night on our way down to the Keys and found the hotel to be great for the price. We were only there for the sunset and sleep time so the room we got was super cheap and super small, but we didnt mind. The hotel is a friendly place and its a good place to watch the sunset, however any place in the keys is a good place to watch the sunset ;)
I'd stay again if im ever just in Largo for one night.

Great location right on the water. Rooms were a bit small beds could have been more comfortable but for a one night stay for six it did the job. Staff was very friendly and helpful!
