Owner description: The Butterfly Rainforest is a 6,400-square-foot screened exhibit exposed to typical Florida weather conditions, resulting in a more natural environment for the butterflies and plants. This living exhibit features hundreds of free-flying butterflies, typically 60-80 species at any given time, birds from around the world and an assortment of other animals including turtles and fish to experience firsthand. The lush landscape is planted in tropical trees and colorful flowering plants amid waterfalls and a walking path. Skilled interpretive staff are available to help answer questions and provide visitors with a personal and highly engaging experience. View live butterfly releases Monday through Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., weather permitting.

Go for one of the butterfly releases! I am a grown adult but was swept away by the gorgeous rainforest/butterfly garden. First, I must say this is one of the best butterfly gardens I have ever been to (I have been to several across the country, in New Orleans, Ft. Myers, etc). It has an incredible variety or butterflies and there were lots of them. I highly recommend a visit here. The only down side is that it was difficult to hear the lecture given on the butterflies -- the volume on the guide's microphone was too low and the sound was not clear. Still, I would go again! It is a magical place.

For a relaxing time in a beautiful setting visit the butterfly rainforest. Of course you expect gorgeous butterflies of all colors of the rainbow, different shapes and sizes and even a few moths sleeping the day away. But the plants!! From subtle changes in shades of green to bright exotic blooms be prepared to enjoy a changing scene around every corner. And in December watch for the appearance of fields of poinsettia to join in the holiday experience. There is something for every member of your family to enjoy in the butterfly rainforest!
