I had the best day of my life at Sweetwater this March! I had my wedding reception on their beautiful property and stayed at their Honeymoon Cottage. Everything went perfectly and my guests had a blast. Many stayed at Sweetwater and we enjoyed the delicious breakfast together each morning. I highly recommend staying at Sweetwater anytime but especially on special occasions.

The rooms were spacious and nicely furnished in period pieces. The food was excellent! I stay there on a Road Scholar program and the B & B furnished all but one of my meals. There are two houses and a number of cottages in this B & B complex. There is also a pool and gardens -- a lovely spot.

Room Tip: The room I was in had an antique bathtub with no grab bars -- extremely difficult for a handicapped...

Dorothy - Thank you for staying with us! We hope you enjoyed the Road Scholar program you attended. We love hosting educational tours! I will check on the grab-bars in our rooms to make sure all guests feel safe when they are showering. We appreciate the feedback, and hope we see you again soon!

We only stayed here for one night. This is a collection of houses/cottages in the historic east side of Gainesville, just a 5-10 minute walk from the lively downtown area. There are two main houses next to each other, plus 6-7 cottages on the grounds. It's not a traditional B & B where the innkeepers are on-site and give you a tour of the house and explain the intricacies of your room. Instead you check-in at a central cottage and you're pretty much on your own from there. They give you a key to get into your house and into your room, but there's no explanation of the history of the houses. So, as long-term B & B travelers, initially we were a bit disappointed. But we had a nice stay, and overall the concept worked for us.

We stayed in Julia's Room in McKenzie House, a beautiful Victorian house which is nicely furnished. Our room was large with a king bed, small flat-screen TV, and period furniture. The bathroom was also large, with a pretty tiled shower. The only drawback to the bathroom was that you had to step down to it, which could cause some problems if you forgot about that in the middle of the night. Parking is plentiful right outside the house. Breakfast is in the adjacent Cushman House, another pretty Victorian. There is continental fare, plus a hot entree. The mostly young staff were friendly and made you feel at home (but still not the same vibe as when an on-site innkeeper is there for you).

The grounds include an absolutely lovely garden area for outdoor weddings and a large reception hall. This was one of the prettiest spots I've seen for a wedding weekend, and there are 20 or so rooms in total for the weddding party/guests. There also is a small pool on the grounds. Overall, we were fine with the cross between a true B & B and a boutiqye-style hotel, and the location near downtown is great.

Thank you for the review! We genuinely appreciate your feedback and are glad you were able to enjoy the experience we provide our guests. It is helpful to hear from B&B pros, like yourself, about how we can create a more rounded experience for everyone who stays with us. Historical tours of our property would be a great addition to the property information located inside of rooms and in common areas. Thank you, again, for giving us the opportunity to improve! We hope to see you again soon.

I recently stayed at the Sweetwater Branch Inn and we had such a pleasant stay that it will now be our go-to place when visiting Gainesville. I loved the room (Isadora) and the hike to the third floor was good for me. I loved having coffee and water readily available near the room. The breakfast was good and the room clean and neat. I do wish the wine and cheese had been served on time since we were trying to get to dinner reservations and had to rush. Breakfast was also ready later than advertised.

We stayed in the Isadora room. It was lovely! The grounds are beautiful and well kept. A serene koi pond is in the garden along with several arbors. It was too cold to swim but there was a very nice pool. Breakfast is served buffet style and was delicious! Loved their Sweetwater Coffee.
