Owner description: Visit Old Florida, where things are done naturally.San Carlos Bay - Bunche Beach Preserve is a 718 acre beach and mangrove forest preserve with a variety of recreational opportunities to enjoy including: Bird Watching, Canoe/Kayak Launch, Canoeing/Kayaking, Fishing, Hiking (Boardwalk), Nature Study/Photography, Picnic Area, Swimming and Sun Bathing.Step back in time visiting San Carlos Bay- Bunche Beach Preserve, one of the few natural beaches framed with native vegetation and mangrove tunnels to explore by kayak or canoe. In 2010, public beach facilities were completed & opened with ADA parking, restrooms, fishing piers, kayak ramp, picnic tables, and a small boardwalk overlooking Rock Creek. On the white sandy beach, there is an ADA mobie mat that leads to an ADA picnic table. Bunche Beach is not a barrier island beach. It is narrow compared to the beaches on Sanibel and Fort Myers beach. This adds to its unique charm. This Beach is never crowded and easily accessible with no traffic concerns. Kayak and SUP rentals are available through the on site vendor, Kayak Excursions, which also sells bottled water and assorted sundries at the Activities center located just behind the beach.Enjoy a quiet day by the bay.

please don't tell anyone what a great little beach this is. Go early, like sunrise and bring your camera for the all the shore birds that hang out there. Low tide is the best time to go. Look for sandpipers, piping plovers, reddish heron, black skimmers, great blue herons, ibis and more.

“Quite, but boring.”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

If you are looking to escape the crowds for a while this is a pretty good place to go. There is very limited parking and recently added is a parking charge so not a lot of people come here. The beach is long, but the sand is below average and the size is also below average.

“My first area beach”
Reviewed 12 February 2012

I found Bunche Beach by accident and was so glad I did. The beach was clean, uncrowded and kind of rustic with the brush at the rear of the length of the beach.

“Hidden quiet gem”
Reviewed 5 February 2012

After a day on Ft Myers beach (nice if you go to quiet city metered park about 2 mi so of bridge, but the TRAFFIC) and another day on the Sanibel island beaches, this was a quick 4 mi hop from our hotel. $1/hr to park, rest rooms in side parking lot but 1/4 mi walk down the road. There were not as many shells on the beach as Sanibel, however if the water is calm you can walk way out and see a LOT of shells in the water yet. This is a great beach for sunset watching and easy to get back to Summerlin road and then Ft Myers.
