Edelweiss came highly recommended to us and we gave it a try, and we shall return. It is half bakery with German delectable and half a café. They are open for breakfast and lunch and close at 5 p.m. We chose to buy on both sides of the shop, and we are glad we did. Both of us enjoyed our entrée selections. The schnitzel was amazing, one of the best we have had. Surprisingly, the red cabbage was certainly the best. Very mild but delicious. The German potato salad was served cold, but was pleasing. Definitely less vinegar than most renditions, and we liked that. We also tried a veal ravioli with egg, which was also a fresh and different taste. It was accompanied by a unique salad that was very enjoyable, as well. Prices were moderate, and probably a pretty good deal for the boutique nature of the place. We thought the bakery offerings were attractive and tasty. It felt a lot like the shops we enjoyed when we toured Germany a few years ago. There are also a number of German made delectables available for sale, so this is a place where you can get a good breakfast and/or lunch, pick up some baked goods and perhaps buy a few German delectables to give out as Christmas gifts or just keep for ones own use. All in all, a very interesting and enjoyable restaurant at Commercial Blvd. and Bayview in Fort Lauderdale.
