“Very Nice Stay with Some Annoyances”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2012

The hotel is very nice and what really makes it is the staff. From the time you arrive, everyone at this hotel is friendly and helpful. The rooms are also nice. Very modern styled. The beds are super comfortable.

The bathroom was just great. Double sinks and a jacuzzi tub. The shower was nice but could have been a bit larger. It was a shoulder to shoulder fit and I could only imagine what it would feel like for larger adults.

We had a King Junior Suite.

A couple of things I didnt like.

1- Everything is way overpriced. I stay at beautiful hotels across the country and this Hilton ranks at the top of "we take advantage of you because you are here". Valet parking is $31.95 per night. This is ludicrous. We are staying at your hotel. We paid for a room. We have to get there somehow and we need a place to leave our car. Just raise your rates by $20/night and charge people $10 so they dont feel like they are being taken advantage of.

They serve Starbucks coffee in their cafe. Starbucks is expensive as it is. Well they take it to a new level. For over $9 I got 2 medium coffees. One iced and one hot. I asked for 2 pumps of hazelnut and they charged me $1.

I paid $16 for chicken quesedillas at the pool. My included breakfast was basically a lenders bagel. Hot food is an $7 up-charge.

A big gripe of mine was how my Hilton Gold Status was handled. With Gold status you get an upgraded room on check-in, based on availability. They leave the terms so loose they can tell you almost anything is an upgrade, including moving you one room closer to the beach.

We traveled with another couple who booked the same room as us and ended up with a room twice the size as us. Hilton knew we were traveling together as I mentioned it in the booking and they made sure to put us on the same floor. But someone over there should realize that when 2 couples travel together and book the same room, you shouldnt upgrade ones room to a room twice the size as the others. It left a terrible taste in my mouth.

Overall it was a nice stay although I would lean on trying another one of the hotels in the area. The Hilton just left me feeling like I was being taken advantage of and their on-site costs basically said "well how much can we really get away with charging our customers for this".

A beautiful hotel in a great location. Lots to do nearby and a very well trained staff.
The elevators had some problems on Saturday, when the hotel was filled to capacity. The staff was uniformly polite and apologetic. Service was excellent all around.

As a Hilton Diamond member, breakfast was included. It's a good buffet, but a really bad physical arrangement in a tight space. This is a pretty minor thing to complain about, but the only negative I have at all about this hotel.

As the other reviewers mentioned, the kitchenette is perfect for snack size. It is a clean and well kept hotel.

We had 3 nights in a Junior Suite (studio w/King) on the north-facing side of the hotel, with view of both the ocean and inland to the intercoastal & beyond. We were on a high floor which made the balcony a great place to enjoy the view day or night. The room was large, clean, quiet and furnished in an attractive contemporary style. The kitchenette was a useful addition (especially the fridge, which was larger than a mini-bar). Made good use of the onsite coffee shop downstairs (serving Starbucks) with a perfect outdoor seating area looking out onto the beach for the first coffee of the day. Didn't eat at the hotel, seemed pricey and had too much competition from local places. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially valets/bell-hops. Only downside was the expense of valet parking ($32/night), and wi-fi ($15/night/device), which bumped up our final bill. Hotel location is great for the beach & beachfront food/beverages, Galleria mall a mile away (incl. Seasons 52, PF Chang etc), and Miami just 40 mins by car.

Room Tip: Go for rooms at the front or sides, with ocean view. Try to be as high as possible for the best vie...

Hotel is in walking distance to Beach Place, tons of bars and all the great restaurants. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms and very comfortable. Fridge, microwave and coffee pot in room. Only disappointment was the pool, very crowded and not enough lounge chairs. The chairs go very early. As with many other hotels, ppl get up extremely early and reserve the chairs then take off until later. I got up and out at 8 am and the only chairs available were along the side of the building far away from the pool.

My husband, two friends and I checked in early and the hotel was very accommodating with getting us an early check-in, which was fantastic! The room, however, was a bit disappointing. We reserved a one-bedroom suite with an ocean view, which you could technically see the ocean, from the side of the building and through the palm trees. The room itself was very clean and we were pleasantly surprised with how big the room and bathroom was. There was also a half bath near the front door, which was nice with the amount of people we had in the room. We were happy with the accommodations overall, but there was one major factor that put a damper on the trip. Where the room was located, was directly underneath the parking garage. Every time a car came down the ramp of the parking garage, the ceiling would rumble and shake, as if an earthquake was happening. It was the worst in the bedroom, which was not conducive for a good night of sleep. We did not sleep at all!! It was so bad that this would be a deterrent to coming back in the future. We were in room 222-if you get this room, ask them to move you!
