I love this hotel and have been several times, a special shout out to Joni and Judi up in the club and Kaitlin in guest services- all 3 helped out with the fact that the hotel was essentially booked out to a corporate group and the rest of the guest were second class citizens. Restaurants and pool were closed to the public often, my favorite bar for almost my whole stay. Entire sections of the beach blocked off and had the rest of us scrambling for chairs as hundreds (yes that many) sat empty and "reserved". I think I would have been ok if I got a warning ahead of time or paid a reduced rate but neither was the case. After this experience, I will think twice about going back if there is any large group or event at the hotel. The second reason for the lower rating this time is the pet fees. I love that most ritz are pet-friendly but the fees for the privilege are out of control, even for the Ritz. The Ritz needs to realize that pets in a hotel are now commonplace and they can no longer command the premium they impose, especially if the pet does $0 damage and makes no mess.

Dear njroman,

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback about your recent visit. We are thrilled to hear that you had another successful experience on the Club level and thank you for mentioning our employees. We will be sure to recognize our Ladies and Gentlemen that you highlighted. We will also share your comments about the pool and beach with our leaders to ensure a better experience for our guests. As we are pet friendly it is important for all of our guests to know that we professionally clean all rooms after a pet departs to ensure cleanliness for the next guest, hence the fees.

Thank you again for your business and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a Ritz-Carlton experience.

Evacuated like the rest of us in the Carolinas and hit 95 South. Ended up on Amelia and booking one of the last rooms here for a few nights to wait out Hurricane Florence. Property is decent but the rooms feel like a standard Marriott or Westin.

I’m not likely to visit again due to a few items, particularly the amount of children this property attracts and a large corporate event that took over everything from the pool closing at 5pm, on-site restaurants, portion of the pool, etc. You may want to call make sure the property is fully available to guests when visiting.

I don’t have kids, it’s fine that you do (I even used to be one) but the premium paid at this property for someone looking to pool, drink, relax, etc. is not worth it. Yes, the spa pool is no children and quiet, but it’s $40 additional dollars per guest per day to sit near feet from the main pool.

Notable staff were Karen L. at breakfast and Rachel and the rec staff at the pool.

Visited friends at the Omni AI Plantation a few miles away after checkout and found that property to be more on par if not nicer, which is a shame. Better pools for sure.

IT WAS PERFECT!
FOOD 10

HOSPITALITY AND CARE 10+++

Of course its on an island and it's THE RITZ, but this pace is special. Caring, clean, comfortable and accommodating.
Don't hesitate to book this venue.

Room Tip: Hotel is a U shape - views are great from every room.

We have stayed at almost all of the Ritz Carlton hotels in Florida. This is by far our favorite. It’s at the beach has a great location and has one of the biggest spas we have ever seen. The spa is not only large but excellent in every way from all the personnel and services to the ambience. The hotel has great rooms with great views and great food. Their signature restaurant salt however was not quite as good as the last time that we were there. It was still very good though.

We had a mandatory evacuation due to Hurricane Florence and decided to go to Florida. So we packed up our kids, 2 dogs and mother and headed to Amelia Island. From the moment we arrived (midnight)until the moment we left, the customer service we received was the best we have ever experienced! EVERYONE was exceptional, from housekeeping to security! And the food was great too! Rooms are a bit dated but you can overlook this slight fault as everything else was fantastic! Special shootouts to Carolina at the front desk, Kayla at the poolside restaurant, Timothy at Coast, Olga at Salt, Amanda in housekeeping and Merrida (?) at the pool. They all made our anxiety filled escape enjoyable! Even our dogs were well taken care of! If you are running from a hurricane or want a great vacation, head to the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island!
