I love to vacation in Florida, but not in the tourist hot beds.
Amelia Island in Florida has gorgeous beaches and great little attractions.
Our stay at Residence Inn was absolutely amazing.
Incredible service, and everyone that works there go way above in the customer service department.
For being dog friendly, you would never know that there are pets in the place.Very clean.......
The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Very easy to get to from the Jacksonville airport.
We just added a new addition to our family ( boxer puppy) and we will definitely stay here on our next family vacation.
I would like to also mention, the Harvest bread company is a great little place to have lunch.

We stayed here for a 3 night break over Easter and again for a 1 night break at the end of a cruise out of Jacksonville, our decision to stay here based totally on TA reviews (as ever !)
This hotel did not disappoint, the staff were excellent (special mention for Natalie) the rooms spacious and everything still felt quite new. The pool area was ok, generally enough chairs and beds to go around if only people didn't "reserve" them with towels and only show up for the last 2 hours of the afternoon !...honestly, Americans are getting as bad as Germans in this area ;-)
There was free WiFi throughout although it only really worked well in the lobby, however wired connections in the room were free and high speed. As mentioned previously cell phone reception was sometimes quite poor or non-existant in the rooms. Each room has a good flat screen TV and small kitchens and lounge areas. Bathrooms were ok, our first room had quite low shower pressure but the other room was fine, also we commented on the hairs (not ours) on the floors and to be fair the staff re-cleaned the bathroom immediately,
Morning breakfast was fairly basic, plenty of choice but no bacon or fried eggs... scambled, make your own waffles, fruit, yoghurt, cereals etc...all on paper plates ! Guess it keeps the costs down, always seemed to be one overworked lady on duty to keep things going, she certainly earns her money !
The hotel puts on various events during the week, nothing major, wine and cheese evening, BBQ, they did an Easter Egg hunt for the kids on Easter Sunday, nice touch.
Many hotels get freaked out if you ask to stay in the room beyond checkout time, no problem here, we asked to checkout 90 mins later (at 1:30pm) and this was agreed without any issue, this really helped us as we had an afternoon flight and didnt want to hang around at the airport for 5 hours !
The hotel location is quite good, the beach is less than a 10 min walk, and Sliders Beach restaurant (see seperate review) is on the beach. Most restaurants are in Fernandina Beach so you really need a car all the time your are there (info for Europeans really). From JAX Airport its about a 30-40 min drive, easy to find.
This hotel accepts dogs so if you are not comfortable with this then ensure you ask for a non-dog room, i think they tend to put dog-based families in specific rooms. We are not dog people but they didn't really bother us, couldn't hear any barking anyway !
Would i stay here again, certainly, Amelia Island is pretty quiet but good for golfers, beach, and cyclists.

Room Tip: Ask for a room for non-dog owners.

spent a couple nights here as we headed further south into Florida. Property is a nice 5 min stroll to Fernandina Beach. We had a 2 room king suite for a family of 4. Plenty of room and all the amenities of home. Pool was a little on the cool side. Hot tub was enjoyable. Property is clean and well maintained. Free breakfast was excellent with all the hot and cold choices one could want. Exercise room was sufficient. Property is quiet with a lot of vacationing seniors on planned tours.

This place is 3 years old and still looks brand new. The beach is about a 1/4 mile away from the hotel. You can walk or they have a hotel shuttle which will take you down there. There is a publix supermarket about a mile away so you can stock up on groceries. The pool is nice but very small. The hotel was very quiet at night. Many elderly people staying with tour groups which was just fine with me. Didn't really see many kids but I traveled on an off time (not a holiday or spring break) The staff was nice but not as attentive as many people said about this particular hotel. We were waiting for one of the bbq's to be set up for the guests and the staff just didn't have it together. We ended up going into town instead for dinner. I also thought the housekeeping staff was just ok. A little lax. Also the staff allowed someone to smoke by the pool area and that really made me mad. Marriott boasts how they are a smoke free hotel yet they have a smoking section right in front of the hotel. So you have to smell smoke as you enter. I also find that people who smoke just think they can smoke where ever they want. I find that many hotels are not enforcing this policy because they don't want to offend guests. But what about the people who don't smoke? I guess they don't matter? I would stay here again because of the location and how it was nice and quiet.

SIx night stay over spring break, but we had very quiet rooms away from elevator, and no issues with pets. Serivce was attentive, suites are large, breakfast better than most, no problem with internet in the rooms. Very clean. Two block walk to beach was easy and safe. Jason was very helpful at front desk. Staff seemed to keep up with multiple requests despite being sold out for spring break week.

Very good restaurants in town of Fernandina Beach. Fun morning horseback ride on beach at Kelly's Ranch. Easy, flat bke ride to Fort Clinch.

Pool area is small, but the beach weather was lovely and we spent most of our time there reading and relaxing.

The general manager kept reminding me that he wasn't the boss, we were....

Would definitely recommend this hotel.
