wasn't a great beach day, what to do? flamingo gardens is where you need to be. so unexpected, and beautiful. we were a family of 6, 4 adults and a 9 and 12 year old. i have difficulty walking but not a problem for $5 we rented a wheelchair there. there are peacocks everywhere strutting around, many with their feathers opened into a fan. an animal show with an outdoor theatre so that you can learn about the animals that they have. most of the animals cannot be released back into the wild due to injuries. some they get as babies and are releasable. the outdoor aviary is a wonderful place to roam about. it is covered with wire so the birds can't fly away and you can see them very close up. the kids loved feeding all the birds including the roaming peacocks. they also had alligators, flamingos of course , river otters turtles and a few others. it's a lovely way to spends a few hours outside. the free tram tour to the back of the property was another great learning experience. they also have a food truck and an outside restaurant with prices that won't break the bank. the trees and flowers are well marked. if you like flamingos and gift shops this is the place for you. you can also visit the wray home on the property to see what homes were like in the 1930's in south florida. if you aren't tired of walking drive a few miles and head to sawgrass mills. it's a huge outlet mall with very nice stores.

This was our first visit, and found it to be really beautiful. The Flamingo island is fabulous for picture taking. There are tropical trees that are different and beautiful. We had lunch at the snack bar, and the hot dogs were delicious. It would have been a great visit, had we been greeted by personnel who did not have attitudes of 'why are you bothering me?'. Not only at the front area, but also at the snack bar. Someone needs to take these people aside and explain that without customers, they would not have jobs. Other than the employee attitudes, I would recommend this as a great place to visit.

The Flamingo Garden am easy place to find. It is a botanical garden as well as small zoo.
The Plants are well makered and is loverly shade from the trees. Some of which look old and beautiful. It is the type of place you would like to sit and read. However reading would be the last thing one would like to do there. The many peacock that is very acclimated to people and is very distracting.
There is a livery little lunch place in the garden. Typical food, hotdogs and burgers, nothing fancy.
There is a tram you can take to the extended part of the park. The extend part of the park is not something I suggest to walk, due to the wildlife and such.
However the team is very knowledgeable of the history of the environment and the actual park. It is fascinating.
The main part of the park where the exhibits are is not very large, so for younger kid it is just the right size.
It maybe a small place but there is a lot to see.
Great place.

Apart from seeing the flamingos and peacock we did not find it entertaining here. A bit $ entrance fee and was not worth it for us. The children were very bored.

A great day for Gramma and Grampa, Mom and Dad and a 4 and 7 year old! Beautiful grounds, cool animals. Be sure to take the Tram Ride too. Bring quarters to buy food to feed the peacocks and flamingos....the flamingos are really gentle eaters. We really enjoyed our visit.
