“They don't tell you upfront!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2012

My problem with this hotel is that a week (5/04/2012) ago, I checked in with my wife and they would not honor the $69/n rate even though the rate we wound up with was $79. Yes, I understand about the surcharge on the weekend, but the surcharge IS spelled out in the ad. The person at the desk wanted to charge us $109 a night, then rolled it back to $79 as I was exiting. After a long ride, the bait and switch did not set well. So I agreed to 2 nights at $79/ night AND told her that I wanted to charge the total upfront to my DEBIT card. On the way back with my card, she told me that they HAD to run it as a credit card AND they put an extra $50 hold on my account. Where do they get the right to do something like this and then tell you afterward. MAYBE because they saw that I was disabled and figured I was stupid, too! I was furious! When we checked out, I was informed that the $176 charge would change to the actual charge ($175 and change) and the $50 would drop off, probably Monday. Well the $176 did change to $175 and change BUT it is now a week later, and the $50 hold fee is STILL on my account. It would seem that the accountant was miffed at my complaint and wanted to show me that they were in charge. If the $176 changed to the actual cost several days ago, she must have NOT instructed the bank to take the $50 off. The room was great, but would YOU trust these people with your bank account?

Room Tip: PAY CASH!!! The only thing they can demand is a picture ID!

Dear John,
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay with us. We apologize that we were not able to accommodate the $69.00 rate during the weekend. Although this Travel Saver coupon provides for great savings, we are only able to honor it Sunday-Thursday on a “walk-in” basis, which the coupon states. The rate for a standard room during this time of year is $109.00 plus tax. The $50.00 deposit is a refundable deposit, which is required upon check in. This deposit covers all room incidentals and provides you with the ability to make charges to your room account. We do release the deposit at the time of checkout if no incidentals have occurred, however, it does take your financial institution anywhere between 24 hours and 10 business days depending on your bank. We make every effort to clearly inform each guest of this at the time of check in. Please feel free to contact us if you feel that this matter has not been resolved with your bank so we can contact them on your behalf. We hope that you will allow us another opportunity to provide you with an exceptional vacation experience.

Stayed in the D building, 5th floor. Great view! The room was great. Comfy bed and super soft pillows. Even the couch was comfy enough to kick back and watch a movie. Would definately love to come back.

We rented through a friend who sold us his floating week back in March 2010. We stayed in building D, 4th floor, unit 16. This review is a little late but hopefully will shed some good light on this resort. We has a wonderful stay! Ocean front was a MUST for me, and I got it in this building. It is important to know that Ocean Landings has different sections to stay. You want C and D if you want Ocean Front, as all of these units have it. Being on the 4th floor was incredible and perfect. For me, being in Florida is all about being around the water and enjoying the view. The unit was a bit dated, but I could have cared less! The beds were comfortable, I felt the unit was clean, and hte kitchen suited us just fine. We dont care about fancy, we got what we wanted. Cocoa Beach is a great town, with the pier just down the street from the resort. We went there often, my hubby loves the bread pudding at the pier restaurant, and you can view the ocean from the tables closest to the windows.
We are HOPING to rent again at this resort in March.

Room Tip: Obviously the higher you are the better the view. I would shoot for the third floor and up.

This was a time share excahnge. We had stayed here last year and were given a nice beach front condo and really enjoyed it. This year, they put us in a converted hotel room up by the street. It was OK, but kitchen was way too small. Would not stay here again unless we are guaranteed beach front.

Room Tip: only stay in beach front condo section

Dear Pkmule,
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay at our resort. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your oceanfront accommodation last year, however, we apologize that your recent stay did not meet your "expectations." We certainly hope that you will give Ocean Landings another opportunity to provide you with an exceptional vacation experience. You may have booked your previous reservations through one of our exchange companies and unfortunately we are not able to "guarantee" any room type other than the unit assigned by the exchange company, however, we do accommodate nightly rentals booked directly through Ocean Landings reservation department. This way you can book an oceanfront room and guarantee this is the unit that you will be placed into. In addition, we do allow for upgrades at the time of check in. Please keep this in mind when booking your future stay. Thank you again for your feedback and we wish you safe travels.

Sincerely,

Management

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 November 2011

We have been coming here for around 20 years and sometimes twice a year. At first we loved this place. As other people say the views from the upper appartments are great. If you book in advance you probably will not get the appartment you booked. You may think you have an appartment with a great view but in my view they save all the best view appartments for the "walk-ins" so they can show them a great appartment. We had been booked into the top floor appartment one year and were really looking forward to the great views we would get only to find they had put us on the first floor with no view at all only a fence and the bushes. We complained to the front desk before moving into the appartment but were told they could not do anything because they were not the reservations staff and they did not work weekends. We complained to the manager and for that week we got nowhere but for the second week we were moved into a better appartment. The same thing happened to us again this holiday but we were put into the second floor with a very restricted view of the ocean even though I had e-mailed them and asked them for the rooms we had booked. We stayed in the appartment for the first week but asked to be moved the second week. After some arguing they eventually moved us to the third floor. This was better but not the forth and fifth floor that we had booked for the first and second week respectively.

We have found over the years that the standard of cleanliness has been going "down hill". If you are not bothered about dust under the furniture and someone elses socks under the bed, the rusty dish washer and fridge then this may be the place for you. On the surface it looks clean but on closer inspection it is not. However I believe there is some remodelling going on so perhaps things will change but we did not see any evidence of it in the two appartments we stayed in.

The area itself is wonderful. A very quiet beach to relax on and it is the nearest coast to the attractions which is the best of both worlds. You can sit on the balcony at night listening to the sea and watching the strars and the moon come up. In the mornings you can watch the sun rise which is a beautiful sight when the sky looks almost like a sunset. You can watch the cruise ships going out from port Canaveral. They sail past the appartments.

If you like the wildlife go down to the Nassa wildlife park at Tittussville and if you are very quiet and drive round very slowly you may see the alligators soaking up the sun. There is also an abundance of wildlife in this area and all free - nothing is in captivity. They ask you to be honest and place $5.00 in an honesty box. But beware, take the mossy cream with you because it is very wild countryside out there they exist out there also.

Talking of wildlife. Again if you are very quiet whilst sat on the balcony in Cocoa Beach in the evenings you may spot a Possum or Raccoon scurrying by. We loved to try and spot them and so do lots of other perople but please do not feed them because the resort traps and kills them. We were horrified to see the traps in the gardens and one was covered with a towel for most of the day so we assumed there was something caught in that trap. it spoilt my holiday completely.

Overall we thought we were not valued as visitors to this resort and were not treated very well at all. We have decided now is the time to move on for us and pick a different place as much as we really do not want to. It is not the place it used to be.

Room Tip: Corner suites have the best view if you are on the top floor or forth floor because they have a wind...
