Owner description: Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name.

We attended a live taping of the popular podcast Pod Save America at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Bought the tickets online, had them mailed to us. Parking is ample but it will take a while to get through traffic after a show. Security lines were short, ticket lines quick. There is plenty of help to find your seat. Drinks are varied but with long lines. Everything was great except for the seating which is cramped. You have stand up for people to edge down your row. The seats are padded but narrow. If you weight more than a hundred pounds you will be snug between strangers. That alone made it uncomfortable.

Love Ruth Eckerd Hall. Over the years I have seen many different acts there usually with my wife. She's gone to some with other friends as have I. (Our musical tastes aren't similar). We've seen Peter Noone and Engelbert Humperdink. She has also seen Bobby Rydell, Davey Jones, and Bobby Sherman. She did not accompany me to Alice Cooper. I went with a friend. I've also seen Camelot there years ago with Richard Harris....There isn't a bad seat in the house. I recommend somewhere between rows J-M as close to the center as possible. You can check out their seating chart. There is plenty of easily accessible parking and the venue is very well maintained. The staff, ushers, security, food vendors are all very friendly and helpful. The concession food and sodas are fairly reasonably priced, but the choices are limited unless you get a package with dinner. However if you drink alcohol you are in trouble. A can of beer was $8, and large draft was $12. A mixed drink was $10 and $18 for a double. Yikes. It is a great venue though over all. We will continue to go back whenever there is an act we like. The place is a winner.

Went to see the DooWop. Show last weekend and the seating and sound system was fantastic. Place was packed but still had space and enjoyed the concert. Refreshments were okay, they do have dining before show will try next visit. Great security and organization by the hosts.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Doo-wop concert on St Paddy's Day March 17th... my wife's birthday. However, having paid an additional $25 a head to take advantage of their St Paddy's Day buffet... I could not believe that they ran out of corned beef cabbage! Our St Paddy's Day is not complete without corn beef cabbage. A disappointment. Plus, $14 for a plastic cup of wine? How can they justify running out of their main entree and then charging an exorbitant amount for a small plastic cup of cheap wine. Lesson learned. Eat elsewhere and enjoy a reasonable glass of wine with your meal. The concert and the venue were excellent... found corned beef afterwards and will have Irish luck for the rest of the year and choose my venues carefully...

I have seen this bad on 5 different occasions. Both with their new lead singer (Kelly) and the former lead (Lou Graham). WOW!!! From Kemper arena in KC, Mo. to REH...
Kelly was spot on perfect with his vocals....Mick was oh so awesome on the lead guitar. They also had a local orchestra playing behind the band. It was just a perfect mix of vocals and instruments. Of course the sound at this venue is outstanding. For those of you who have not seen this group, please do so. They are hot! Of note REH has always been excellent place to see any type of musical talent...Awesome job to the staff as well!
