My husband and I are in the area for a week and this was on the list of recommended things to do. We originally had a reservation for Monday but they had to cancel - a water pipe burst in the village and the surrounding area was affected. They were very apologetic (I think I spoke to Lucy? She was lovely!) and I rescheduled for this afternoon. We were promptly seated at our reservation time and we didn't have to wait long before our picnic was brought out to us. It was delicious! The autumn theme includes cauliflower and smoked cheese soup, mushroom vol au vonts, chilli con carne, pulled pork sandwich in addition to a mini welly of spiced apple juice, lemon curd and cream scone, Parkin (gingerbread) cake, blackberry crumble and a Black Forest cupcake. Everything was delicious though I - despite originally disagreeing(!) - agree with other reviewers that an additional savoury item instead of one sweet would be welcomed. Alternatively, smaller scones and Parkin cake? Some pouring cream to go with the crumble and cake would also be lovely - could be served in a mini watering can! The presentation was fabulous, I loved everything about it. Oh, and the skinny fries were spot on too, as was my mocha with a shot of caramel, cream and marshmallows! I'd love to come back to try a different season's offerings! Thank you very much.
