This place serves very high quality fish. Great and exotic cuts of Sashimi served up with pizzaz and style. The few times that we have been here, all for lunch, we have seen a bunch of chefs visible in the kitchen.

Not cheap, but worth the cost based on the quality of the product. If you love sushi/sashimi, you'll enjoy Makoto...I promise.

Happy Trails!

Ambiance is great and the location can't be bear however was disappointed with the level of service and quality of food. Food was good but not as exceptional as other reviewers have mentioned. There are many Japanese restaurants in Miami that offer similar concept. I just don't know if Makoto stands up to Zuma, Katsuya, Nobu or KYU.
Will I Go Back? Maybe next time I am shopping at The Shops but not rushing to return.

Good quality fish, creative dishes and great atmosphere! Loved the sea bass and the kobi beef. Service was ok on the first day and really good the second time I was there. Highly recommend it!

I came with my son and had a wonderful experience. Our server was very nice, gracious and accommodating. Robert Thibodeau (the general manager) came to greet us. We highly recommend Makoto as an excellent restaurant and as a Bal Harbour landmark.

I had rather high expectation reading reviews. The atmosphere is nice, and it is conveniently located at Miami beach´s most elegant shopping mall, having a large outside terrace. But if you are looking for a modern/contemporary Japanese food, this was very an average. We had Sushi-bento, Salmon teriyaki, California rolls, and Chicken ramen. Sushi was nothing special with rice being rather dried. Ramen was not "tonkotsu soup" as it was indicated in the menu with just simple noodle and a small amount of chicken. Good for children, but very poorly presented. I was astonished by the lack of fantasy in this Ramen. Sushi-bento came with Wasabi rice, which is a fried rice with Wasabi touch. It is too much rice (sushi and fried rice)!! I have never seen such a combination. Too much rice and noodle and very limited amount of other exciting ingredients. But again, if you are not very picky with food, this is a fine place as the atmosphere is good but food is nothing special.
