Saw a previous review from July that talked about the smell and extreme humidity in the room. Nothing has changed. Our first room was unbearable, and the second one only slightly better. We were very uncomfortable and had breathing and allergy issues because of the mildew in the air. Other guests we met complained of the same problem, so there is clearly an issue with the HVAC that needs to be fixed. This hotel is not up to Marriott standards. Do not stay here.

Thank You Michael V.

As I said in an earlier response to you directly in an email that we are addressing the issue. I apologize for any inconveince. Humidity levels in the area have been the highest levels in 45 years per the meteorologist at a local news station. The weekend you were here was same weekend Hurricane Florence pushes major amounts of rain and tropical conditions. Today as I write this response inside and out the air is perfect. Humidity has dropped dramatically.

Stayed here for one night while on a business trip to visit a local hospital. This hotel is in a very awkward spot on Route 1A. When coming in from the west you must make a U-turn to get to the property. Once there, if you choose to go further east you must cross 4 lanes of traffic and make a U-turn. To make matters worse, while I was there they had the fire alarm go off at approximately 5:28 am. OK, I know things happen, it was a false alarm. All guests were required to exit the building in the rain. No problem, I had an umbrella in my car so no worries. When it was deemed the fire alarm was a false alarm, the onsite personnel did not go to each exit to inform their guests. It seemed as though that the manager on duty made the announcement only to the guests who had gathered under from front entrance. Those of us who used the stairwells on the side of the building had to figure it out for ourselves that it was ok to re-enter. Here is the fun part......... the onsite manager did not know how to turn off the flashing strobe light alarm. I actually heard him exclaim "I am trying to contact someone, anyone who might know how to turn the alarm off". Of course he was very apologetic, but the lack of training was quite evident. The lights stopped flashing approximately 45 minutes after the event started, there was no getting back to sleep.

Hello Bluewatergolf,

Yes the hotel location is on rt1 and yes you must go a little north to go south. You go north and make a right at the WaWa and circle back behind the hotel so to speak and end up at the light where you made your U-turn to get here.

I must apologize for the alarm going off especially that early in the AM. I did not like the wake up call either. The system has been repaired and is back to normal. Only a certified tech could have stopped the strobes as a pull station stayed in alarm mode even though it was not disengaged. The alarm company walked me through it over the phone to fix the issue. They later came out and replaced it. I will review the staff again on what to do in these situations.

We found the hotel to be clean and pleasant. In the basement there is an indoor pool for the kids and a happy hour bar and deck for the adults. The hotel is on a wide commercial boulevard, requiring a U-turn when arriving from the north and a U-turn when heading out from the hotel to the beach. As pointed out by others, that could be a tough turn, but at this point there isn't much the hotel can do about it. On the plus side, for those who care, you are near outlet malls (yes plural,) supermarkets, restaurants and drug stores in every direction.

The drive to the beach is quick, but know that Rehoboth has annoying parking meters most everywhere (in season) and that are enforced 7 days a week until midnight, with a 3 hour maximum.Parking is $2/hour plus $.50 for use of credit card. Alternatively $.25 for 7 minutes, but who has 25 quarters on hand for 3 hours?

Nice staff, decent breakfast, nicely decorated and sized rooms, A/C that works on hot days. We'll use again when next in Rehoboth Beach.

Getting to and from the hotel when it is busy on the road is horrible. Whoever decided on this spot without a light for turning purposes was pretty dumb.

Also, $375 a night for a Marriott rewards customer and the hotel was just so so - not even walking distance to a beach.....ridiculous price.

I won't recommend this hotel to anyone nor will I ever stay there again.

Room Tip: Dont go here - too expensive

Dear Krista W,

Sorry to hear about the busy road that we are located on which is pretty busy during peak season. Traffic and rates tend to be less in the off season. Thank you for choosing us and hope that you were able to enjoy Rehoboth Beach.

Took a spur of the moment trip to Rehoboth Beach, DE this past weekend. Decided on Friday to head out for Saturday and Sunday so options for a hotel were slim and those that were available were terribly expensive. We decided on the Fairfield Inn and Suites because it was the closest hotel that we could get a reasonable rate. The rate was still high $366 but i had reward points to use so it ended up being affordable. One thing for sure, beach hotels are expensive. especially last minute!

Overall we are very happy with our stay. It was only for one night but the location was great - about 3 miles from the main part of town and the beach. The hotel had free breakfast (i guess not free when the room costs over $400 for the night) but it was a decent breakfast and not every local hotel includes breakfast. After loading up on waffles we were all set to hit the beach.

The hotel had a pool and daily happy hour, both we were unable to take advantage of due to our quick turnaround.

Our room was clean and a nice size - King w/ a separate sofa bed area.

Staff was very friendly.

My only complaint, and it really isn't a reflection of the hotel as much as i likely got one of the last rooms and the fact that i cashed in reward points, our room was right across from the elevator, next to the "Mechanical room" and right near the ice machine - triple whammy. A lot of extra noise. Not that much of an issue since we were there only one night.

All in all i would likely stay at this hotel when i return to RB, as long as the price is competitive or better with other hotels.

Room Tip: while the hotel isn't luxury, the price was what you'd expect for a luxury hotel.
