Picture this... a quiet Monday morning, sipping coffee before the work day when suddenly the phone rings! Within 24 hours I've been transported to Dover, DE for a wild work getaway slated to last 10 days and over race weekend even! How could 1 girl get so lucky?!? At first glance the HGI looks like most other hotels that I've had the opportunity to "live" in for business travel but after you get past the standard drapes and Keurig coffee brewer you'll see that the HGI in Dover is unlike any place in the world! The staff at the HGI are magical fairies of the hotel industry! Theresa, Ben and Amanda are not only employees at this fine establishment they are now friends! Each day I was greeted by a friendly face in the morning and each night before turning in, a comforting face to say goodnight. As I mentioned earlier I was lucky enough to book my travel during Nascar race weekend which meant there were some minor scheduling issues (I didn't have a room for 1 night of my stay) but the staff did everything in their power to make sure that I was able to slumber on that dreary Saturday night. A few of the nights I sat in the bar/grill area...lonely and homesick when suddenly I was visited by Theresa or Ben. Amanda, the bar/grill fairy was always available to lend an ear, a helping hand...Picture this... a quiet Monday morning, sipping coffee before the work day when suddenly the phone rings! The food was delicious, the rooms were equipped with all needed amenities, the indoor pool and spa was perfect for those late night relax sessions. Others in the local area, who were not nearly as fortunate as I was to stay at the HGI poured out the jealousy like Vermont maple syrup and I sat proud as a peacock in the lobby of the HGI. Thank you to all of the staff who made my long trip more than just bearable...enjoyable!!More
