We stayed at the Inn this past weekend for 2nights. It is a great place to stay. Both mornings we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the Inn which was part of the price of the room. Fresh baked breads and muffins created an incredible aroma. Fresh coffee, cereal, bagels yogurt and fruit were all part of the breakfast. Everyone who works at the Inn is so friendly and welcoming. In the afternoon they offered us coffee from their new Keurig coffee machine and at 6pm they offered wine and cheese, very nice. The bathrooms are big and very nicely done. It is right on the main street and you can walk through the town and find small shops and good restaurants. The first night we ate in Mystic (a 5 minute car ride) at Bravo Bravo. It was delicious. The second night we ate right up the road from the Inn at the Water Street Cafe, also delicious.

The one thing you might want to know is that the seaside rooms do have a view of the water, but there is a large parking lot between the Inn and the water. We didn’t mind, but if you think you are booking a room right on the water you aren’t. This was our second visit to the Inn at Stonington, the first time we stayed at the Inn we were street side, and this time seaside. We were equally happy in both rooms. I think if it were during a warmer weather weekend, I would definitely prefer a seaside room which has a deck; because it was cool weather we were not able to take advantage of the sitting outside. The Inn at Stonington is a lovely place to spend a weekend.

The Inn is situated in a quaint area of Stonington, with shops, restaurants and historic homes just a pleasant stroll out the door. We had a seaside room and as a previous review mentioned these rooms overlook the parking lot and a restaurant on the water. However, the view is still enjoyable. The restaurant was closed the night we stayed, so there was no activity there and it was quiet. The room was decorated nicely and the bathroom was quite large, though plain. We had a minor housekeeping issue which was handled promptly, professionally and with what appeared to be geniune concern. The continental breakfast was just that, which was perfectly fine as far as we were concerned, (delicious pastries stood out). We were on the second floor and we could hear someone walking around upstairs during the afternoon and early morning. I think there is a work room/storage area up there and it is not carpeted, thus the noise. There is also a lovely common room with a water view on the third floor with a computer and comfortable seating. This Inn has two big positives, a nice location and an very friendly, helpful and accomodating staff.

Unfortunately, this reviewer is correct. On the week that they stayed with us we were doing some much overdue removal of boxes and stored paperwork from our attic storage room. Although we attempted to do this quietly and at a time when we hoped most guests were out for the day, I can believe it was audible. The good news is, we only get rid of paperwork once a decade! However rare the attic traffic may be, we take this very seriously. We’ve investigated a bit and we think that with a little carpet and a ‘no shoe policy’ when we need to be up there, we can eliminate the footstep sounds. I hope that if the reviewer reads this, they will call and let us apologize in person.

We have been to Stonington numerous times and have stayed at many B & B's. It is one of our favorite places on the planet! Since the Inn opened we have wanted to stay there and finally spent this last weekend there-Room 5 second floor, end room, seaside view. The room was lovely, the view amazing. The staff could not do enough for us. The fragrance of the bread and pastries baking late in the afternoon was wonderful! Wine and cheese at 6:00 was another added bonus! We met couples and chatted and ate at Milagros which is the best Mexican food we ever ate. The only negative is the noise. People stomping up and down the stairs, slamming doors and the drive-way outside to get to Skippers Dock ( a VERY BUSY restaurant) was awful! After a long day of walking the beach and shopping (and no sleep the night before) forget about a little nap before dinner, it wasn't happening. If you are a light sleeper this is not the place for a good night's sleep. When we go away, we want the whole package and rest is high on the list. Because of that, we won't return to the Inn, very disappointing.

Room Tip: as far away from the driveways on both sides of the Inn.

We appreciate the very complimentary things that the reviewer pointed out about the Inn and our staff. We are sorry and puzzled that they found the Inn noisy. We wish that the guests had brought this to our attention while they were here so we could attempt to make their stay more enjoyable. That being said, we can honestly say that noise within the Inn and even noise outside of the Inn is not a common complaint. Most commonly people tell us they have had a very restful stay. Skipper’s Dock restaurant although a bustling afternoon spot in the summer, is not a big noise culprit in the off-season. They are closed up by 9:30 pm, all year long. Again we appreciate the comments but we’d like to point out that noise complaints are not a common occurrence and we hope this doesn’t unfairly deter guests from staying at our Inn.

Fantastic little Inn right on the water in Stonington. So very charming. Had a nice fireplace in my room with a great view of the water. Nice size rooms and very nicely appointed. Maintained the charm of the B&B while still having all the modern conveniences. Free wifi in the room too.

The breakfast in the morning is just right. Excellent fresh baked breads and fruit. Fresh coffee. Nice wine and cheese at the end of the day. Walking distance to a dozen or so great little restaurants and shops, and just a short ride to all that there is to offer in historic Mystic. Highly recommended.

Our favorite village on the Connecticut shoreline is Stonington, an authentic jewel on the Long Island Sound that we have visited for more than 15 years and have longed to wake up in. This year, between holidays, we decided to make that dream come true. And a dream it was in this perfect charming small hotel. The Inn at Stonington is intimate, with rooms on only three floors, some with balconies and Sound view. All rooms are beautifully-appointed with lovely wall paper and furniture, comfortable beds and amazing bathrooms. Breakfasts are served in a ground-floor common room flooded with light and with fine vistas over the water. You are welcomed to linger over newspapers with coffee, juices, a fresh fruit bowl, hard-boiled eggs, an assortment of scones, fresh cranberry and nut breads, hot cinnamon buns, hot and cold cereals accented with nuts, cranberries and brown sugar. Despite the beauty of the inn, its location and the excellent breakfasts, the highlight of the Inn for us was the wonderful staff. They could not have been more welcoming and accommodating, providing us with in-town dining tips as well as excursions into the lovely countryside north of the village. We have already made our reservations for Stonington's annual holiday stroll, when the village shops open their doors with festive food and drink, following the lighting of the town tree. We expect many happy returns to Stonington and this fine inn.

Room Tip: Even rooms on the town side, as ours was, were quiet. The more expensive rooms, on the Sound side w...
