We come here for special occasions like birthday dinners. The food is excellent and shows attention to detail that we don't see in most other places. Presentation, taste and texture make the meal thoroughly enjoyable.

I moved to Simsbury and was very excited to try Metro Bis. I went with my mother not once but twice. Our first experience was very disappointing from the canned beet salad to the sickly overboard glazed duck. The service was also very off-putting and our waitress was downright rude. We emailed the manager and were given a free dinner for 2 to give them another chance. The dinner for 2 did not include alcohol, tax or gratuity and on the certificate it stated tip was to be 18%. How tacky. Our second experience was no better. My steak arrived raw and was then taken back to the kitchen to be charred. Not again. I also hear that Chef Prosperi is never actually at the restaurant. Maybe that’s the reason everyone says it has been declining and the menu barely ever changes.

My family loves this restaurant. It definitely is our go to place for special occasions but we certainly go there even if it is not a special occasion. The food is delicious, the location at the 1820 House was a great move for this restaurant. The menu has been extended a bit which is a nice improvement, It now has 3 distinct dining rooms, the back room where the bar is, is the quieter of the 3, but I like the main room too. The servers are great. Dave, Brian and Elaine go out of their way to make sure your experience there is memorable. Courtney, the chef's wife, oversees the front of the house and keeps an eye on things. We have been going there for many years and highly recommend Metro Bis.

We checked out the menu online before we booked here and were ready for certain items that they actually did not have the night we went. We had a nice meal, and there were plenty of options, but when you are ready for something else and they don’t have it, it’s a little disappointing. The service was very attentive and not rushed. I ordered crab cakes, and there was not that much crab in them. All of our food was way over salted.

Heard about Metro Bis on NPR's The Food Schmooze. Mentioned it to a few people and started hearing people rave about how good it is. It is about 40 minutes from our home but we decided to take mom here for her 79th birthday Great choice...LOVED IT! We were seated in the bar area. Normally, I would object to this location but at Metro BIs we really didn't realize that we were in the bar area until we were half way through dinner. We peeked into the other rooms on the way out and found that all were lovely. Our waitress, Gina, was terrific! She was attentive, funny, and informative without being intrusive. All staff, with the only exception being the Inn's front desk, were similarly skilled. (We thought that it might be fun to come back and try the tasting menu and then stay overnight. The Inn staff seemed slightly irritated when we approached and asked what a room might cost. Didn't comport with the exceptional customer service we experienced throughout our meal)
We started with spring rolls and calamari. The calamari had a unique preparation that we all appreciated. For entrees we had braised short ribs over risotto, salmon over mashed potatoes (instead of wheat berry salad) and duck confit with spaetzle. All was delicious. We ended with key lime pie and bread pudding; Definitely worth the cost and looking forward to the next time.
