This restaurant is really not sure what it wants to be. Is it a bistro? Is it a coffee house with their couches? It seems very confused, more style than substance, a lot of staff all seem very busy but not really doing anything.
One obviously senior staff was telling the other 2 to " stop talking and start moving"
We waited over 20 minutes for someone to take our wine order and our Pinot Grigio was lukewarm. Our food came first before our wine with no utensils or napkins and we were not provided any until we asked!
When you order the small bites they should be called "tiny bites"
$7 dollars for the smallest seafood skewer I've ever seen in my life.
At 8:15 PM they ran out of Brie on the cheese plate! How about running down Carrraluzzi's to pick up some more ?
Has potential, will give it a few more weeks for them to work it all out before we go back.

Dear JANDS22 - we apologize for your less-than-perfect experience. We do have traditional dining room seating available on the second floor if you would like traditional seating instead of the lounge/bar area. We would love to welcome you back for other delicious soft cheeses, such as the delice du bourgogne, which is my favorite cheese of the moment and significantly better than brie, which we normally do not carry other than special request for private events.

Cheers,

Peter

We watched this place get renovated starting a few months ago, and we were very excited to see the inside when we got a chance to visit for dinner. It is absolutely gorgeous, and extremely comfortable. Neither of us realized that it would have more of a lounge set-up, with couches and armchairs taking up half of the main floor. On the other half, there is a beautiful bar and several tables. There's a dining room upstairs that wasn't open when we were there, most likely due to the main floor being sufficient to seat the customers present.

The wine and beer lists are plenty long and varied for this part of the world, i.e. smaller than maybe an urban wine bar but much longer than any local restaurant or bar. The wine bottle prices are more reasonable than the glass prices, so bring some friends!

Service was extremely friendly, and the food was a B+. The hush puppies were perfect and would please even people from Louisiana. We also had the empanadas (beef cooked well but a little dry overall), crawfish fritters (flavorful but chewy), beet terrine salad (very nice), cheese plate (everything tasted great but no one walked us through what we were given), charcuterie (tasty cured meats and good portion considering we got the "Dainty" size), and the ancho chile chocolate creme brulee (tasted like mole sauce, which I happen to like but maybe is not a dessert for everyone). One final note is that the French press coffee is actually a mild espresso shot, which is good but not what I was expecting.

The owner stopped by our table, and it sounds like they've got some awesome menu items and other plans for this summer. We will definitely be going back.

While in Connecticut a not to miss is the Nouveau Monde Wine Bar. I have to start with first impressions. This is a beautiful bar that welcomes you on first glance. Upon entry, you feel like you are about to relax in a friend’s living room. The interior is decorated to perfection with a soothing vibe. Furniture, couches and chairs are comfy, roomy, and arranged for conversation. Plenty of seating is available. There is a large upstairs additional seating area which is very nice for dinners, large gatherings, etc. The outside patio is gorgeous and will be very nice in warmer weather. If you prefer to sit at the bar, friendly bartenders are there for your service. NMW is perfect for that after work drink, gathering with friends, or just a nice anytime “wine down.”
Nouveau Monde is not your typical wine bar with basic offerings. The range wines on this list are carefully hand selected to thrill your taste buds. The proprietor’s focus on complex wines from all over the world. Wines available will provide an imbibe experience not to be forgotten. There are wines to suit every palate and budget. If you like wine, exploring wine, or are just beginning to understand wine. This is not a place to miss. (Hint: if you want some background on the wine you are drinking ask for one of the friendly proprietors to provide some information. They are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine.) There are beers and ciders offered, but we were on a very satisfying wine adventure during our last visit.
The food offerings, carefully planned and paired palate pleasers, have been created for a foodie’s delight. We had several of the appetizers as dinner. Our favorites- clam chowder, short rib empanadas, lobster rolls, and fried oysters. We saw many other dishes, and look forward to returning to try them all. Along with appetizers, cheese/meat platters, larger meals and desserts are offered.
Simply Scrumptious and Delightful! Can’t wait for our next visit!
