This is a very tiny and very busy coffee shop but so worth a visit. Great staff, great cakes and snacks and awesome choice of coffees. Very pet friendly. It’s situate in a very old graded building and therefore space is quite limited unless you can get up the narrow stairs. Worth the effort as it’s very cosy and homely.
Lovely, very informal - choose what you want from the blackboard or menu or just from the luscious cakes on display. Coffee comes in different strengths and there is a wide selection of tea. All served in delightfully mismatched china. Very cosy and also - very popular!
After having visited Pinnock's for the first time some months ago and being impressed by its unique charm and cosy feel, I thought it might be the ideal place for me to bring my laptop and work on a personal project for most of the day. I chose the first Wednesday in September, just as the local schools were starting term again, so I was expecting the coffee shop to be fairly quiet.
I definitely wasn't disappointed with the food, drinks or service, but I didn't get the peace and quiet I expected - there was a party of around 40 in the upstairs area for most of the morning which made it difficult to even hear myself think. This doesn't reflect badly on the venue itself though - it just goes to show how popular it is, and for good reasons. But if you're hoping for some quiet time, either choose your time slot wisely or go elsewhere.
As I only drink Espresso my view is biased as they have a unique method of "pour over " coffee with multiple blends and strengths. Basically it's filter coffee and my wife found her "capuccino" very bitter. My bottled apple juice was fine. I'm obviously in a minority as it was very busy - but not for me.
