I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member, and as such, I like to stay in different hotels across Hilton's portfolio when I visit a particular area. For this visit to the New London/Groton area, I chose this property.

I used my Digital Key to access my room, so the only time I interfaced with the front desk was to later obtain my spring water bottle and snack. However, the Digital Key gave me some problems as it would not always unlock the door on the first try. One time I had to reboot my phone before I could get back into my room.

The elevators..... One had a sign on it that it was broken. The other was noisy and gave a jerky ride. More on that later.

The room itself was adequately sized, with plenty of room for my belongings and a large desk. Although the way the desk lamp was positioned, it was right over my computer causing a glare on the screen and I could not move it too far. Climate control was via the HVAC unit. Being in the 50's outside, it was adequate at times to just run the fan, and once in a while I turned heat on too.

Bathroom had ample counter space. No soap provided on sink, only on bathtub. Shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were old style bottles rather than the dispensers that most Hilton properties now offer. Shower was a nuisance. While no shortage of hot water, it was too hot, and then too cool. There was no just right or happy medium.

Breakfast was so-so. I settled for just 2 sausage patties. Would have been nice to have scrambled eggs rather than the fancy omelet.

When I was ready to leave, I prepared for my last amusement park thrill ride in that lone elevator. I waited, and waited, and waited. Never came, and I could not hear it moving. Finally had to haul my 64 year old body and heavy luggage down from the 4th floor to the lobby, and there I found out that the surviving elevator had failed too, and somebody had to be rescued by the local fire department.

I checked-out as I had checked-in, via the app, so that worked well. But my last impression of this place was that walk down the stairs with the luggage.
