My son and I have been out six times with Harold's guides over the last two years. You can't find a better way to spend a day with family or friends.
The guys are great and very knowledgeable about the river. We have caught plenty of bass and trout each time. Harold has an impressive store and provides everything you need to have a great day on the river. Get out and enjoy it - you won't be disappointed.

We had an excellent guided Fly Fishing trip on the Farmington River two Friday's ago. Drew, our guide, knew all the best fishing spots and was very knowledgable about the best technics and flies to use given the current conditions. I would highly recommend their service. Drew even taught me some new easier knots to use. Plus he had a great personality so it made the day fly by.

I had the most ridiculous experience with Housatonic River Outfitters, trying to buy a fly rod from them, for my grandson's birthday.

I ordered the rod through Amazon, a month ago.

Initially they said they shipped the rod, but didn't provide a tracking number. I called and asked where the item was. They said they were going to send a replacement. Again, no tracking number was provided. This was a Temple Fork rod, $240. The package never arrived.

Third time Harold said he was personally sending the rod and did provide a tracking number. The only problem is that the rod sent was a much cheaper substitute.

It is baffling that someone would be so dumb to try and do this.

I love going to this store! They are nice people and they have a great selection of fly fishing equipment but also other things like antiques and even furniture! I fly fish the Housatonic river and this store is right near the river. They publish a Housatonic River report on fishing conditions several times a week throughout the year, which I rely on to know what conditions are. The reports are accurate and very useful. Store personnel are very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend stopping in to visit this store!

This is a very nice little store - filled with lots of things that anyone would like, not just for fishing. There are really nice clothing, décor items, and other finds that are worth a regular stop to see what they have. Also, if you have chickens that are a bit spoiled they have nice, wiggly worms that make a great treat :)
