“Nice inside, dumpy outside”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2012

On the positive side, the condo we rented was nicely appointed inside with granite counters, etc.

On the negative side, the entry to the place is weird. The shuttle driver from the eagle vail airport couldn't find the entrance because it's in an undergound parking garage. In fact it's so poorly signed that we couldn't find our condo. There are two elevators to different towers, and we had to search both to find our unit.

The outside reminds me of student housing at UCSB or USC. In fact the sound of traffic from I-70 reminds me of the sound of LA traffic at USC last week.

Maybe if snow on the mountain had been better, I would be more magnanimous in my review, but it wasn't.

Room Tip: The management does not let you select a unit.

Unit 216 through VRBO, more info on Black Diamond Rentals. Cheap early season rate, and they helped us out a bit with the cleaning fee. Rental manager Anna was good with communication.

I went with a group of 8 friends to go snowboarding in December 2011. Vantage Point is an older building, but this unit was newly remodeled. Stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, two 40" flat screen tv's, cable box (cable remote didn't work), a queen bed, and 2 set of bunk beds. The sofa pulled out to be a bed too, but it was uncomfortable so they slept on it as a regular couch. There's also 2 leather recliner chairs.

There's a big dining table, but only 6 chairs to eat at it. The balcony was big with a gas grill and looked out onto the mountain ski lifts! There's no heating system/AC in the unit (which is weird for a cold climate city), but they gave us 2 space heaters and we kept the gas fireplace on most of the time. 2 full bathrooms, shower water was sorta hot, just have to wait between people to go. Lots of towels provided by them.

Location was pretty close to the Lionshead Village and Gondola, though one of the further ones. Just a set of stairs that you have to go down from the building's parking garage. Getting into the parking garage was a bit hard to find, it's the VERY first opening on your right when you turn into the village, looks like a small street, that goes directly into the garage.

All in all, great price, great location, and new modern feel to it. Unit 216 for the win! =) I have photo's that I'll upload soon!

We rented unit 304 through Vail Realty. It is a 2 story condo with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and a balcony looking out on the mountain. Upon arrival, the condo was probably 80 degrees. We called to find out how to turn on the air conditioning and were told that none of the condos in Vail have air conditioning since it gets so cool at night. WHAT? Never think to ask about air conditioning in the US. They should have opened up all the windows and brought in some fans to cool the place down before we arrived. We called the 2nd day and asked if they could give us a fan for each bedroom since it was really, really hot. They were able to find one that we shared in the hallway, but it didn't help much. The master suite had a tiny 12 inch by 12 inch window on the floor in the corner so it didn't help stir up a breeze at all. I'm sure this place is great in the winter because the master has a floor to ceiling picture window that looks out on the mountain and gondolas, but it was terrible for the summer since you can't open that big window.

The 2nd bedroom wtih a queen bed would have been a little better because they have a sliding glass door to a patio. Unfortunately, we didn't want to leave that open and unlocked all night since a 4 year old was in the room. So, no air there either.

The 3rd bedroom wtih 2 twins did have a normal window in it, but it opened up to the outdoor landing/entrance area. So, seemed really unsecure to leave that open and let someone crawl through it in the middle of the night.

We did leave all the windows in the lower level open but didn't help the upstairs at all.

Now, for the positives. As everyone has said, the location is great. Right by the bus stop that takes you around Vail/Lionshead. Right by the gondola that takes you to the top of the mountain. Nice shops, restaurants, coffee shops and even a little grocery store right there. Covered parking which I'm sure is great in the winter. The pool was clean and decent. Nothing fancy, but we had a hard time finding a condo with a pool. My kids said the water was cold, though.

Also, the unit was decent. Not super up-to-date, but nothing was really bad. Decor was a little outdated, but the 2 couches were nice and new. The TV in the living room was a giant flat screen with lots of stations and a DVD player. The queen and twin bedrooms also had small flat screen TVs with DVD players which was really nice. Kitchen had everything you could need. Washer and dryer really came in handy.

If it had air conditioning, we would have been completely happy there at the cost of $275/night. Since it does not have air conditioning or windows in the master I would NOT stay here again in the summer at any price, though.

My family and I stayed at Vantage Point 216 and was hesitant at first because of a previous very negative review of the exact condo however the manager addressed the complaint so we felt confident enough to proceed with the rental. None of our experience matched up with the previous review. No problems with hot water or heat. We contacted the manager for a new propane tank that was low and we had 2 new ones that same day ready for our use. She also sent someone over immediately when our pilot light went out in the fireplace on day 3 of our stay, The condo is remodeled and very comfortable for our family. Amazing views and couldn't believe how close to the gondola and ski school. Very convenient and reasonable in comparison with other lionshead village condos. Would stay here again. FYI-Vantage Point does get some highway noise so might not be ideal for light sleepers and laundry is on site but not in condo so not as convenient since it is coin operated.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2010

Like others said, you cant beat the location. We went for spring break, myself and my two kids. The Unit on teh 2nd floor was adequate. I disliked the baseboard heating system, as it took me a while to get use to it. The TV's were regular TV's with DVDs(we did not use) on them .. Kitchen had all dishes and appliences, but we only used the toaster and microwave. Sofa was comfortable enough. Master Bathroom was a bit small. So nothing great, but it really suited out needs. There was underground parking for our rental car. The bus route was right outside the place. walking distance to ski school and the lifts. We did have maid service every day. Internet worked great.
If you like modern, updated condos/hotels , this place is not for you. If you just require a clean basic condo with room for everyone, for the price, its great.
