Overall the facility is very nice, but the actual unit we stayed in was very dated...it would have been top of the market in the 80s, but needs to be renovated. The common areas (pools, hot tubs, gym, sauna, etc.) were all nice. The location is great, right across the street from the slopes and an easy walk to the gondola and the Lion Head Village. The staff was outstanding, and at the front desk they have games and movies you can borrow.

On the down side, the condo was not cleaned very well. There was schmutz behind the doors in all the bathrooms and the dishes needed to be washed before we used them.

Our family of 11 (grandparents, parents and grandchildren) spend 6 nights in two different units at Vail Spa Condominiums in March. The staff is truly excellent. They handled our issues with professionalism, empathy and grace. Cassandra, who we think was a manager, was particularly great. The property is very well located just a short walk to the Lionshead gondola. The arrangement they have with Charter Sports to leave your skis there at no additional charge makes the short walk even better. The common areas are great. Our grandchildren particularly enjoyed the swimming pools. They have both indoor and outdoor pools.
Unfortunately, the unit that we stayed in (unit 301) was not acceptable. It was badly in need of updating. The "western" decor that is omnipresent in Vail was brown, dark and overly bulky. The living area could be a wonderful space with its western view down the valley and lots of windows. The kitchen is well incorporated into the space. Updated colors, furniture, carpeting, etc. would make the living space truly great. The kitchen was not equipped for people who actually cook. The selection of cookware and utensils was totally inadequate. The vent for the stove did not work resulting in the smoke alarms going off while broiling meat. The washer and dryer were well past the time for being replaced. The master bedroom was a small room that could have worked well, but it contained an overly bulky bed, a huge armoire placed diagonally in the corner and dull brown colors everywhere that made the room feel even smaller than it is and unpleasant. It also lacked electrical outlets. The linens were mediocre and the dark comforters and pillows made us think that they might not be very clean although we were assured that the comforters were cleaned between stays. The unit was very well cleaned each day. Light colored cotton comforter covers and a note indicating that they are cleaned between stays would solve this problem well. Half of the closet was full of fake plants. The other bedrooms had similar problems, all of which could be remedied with updating, appropriately sized furniture and elimination of dust catching fake plants. The unit also needs a well written guide to using the various tvs, appliances, etc.
We would certainly consider staying at Vail Spa Condominiums again but only if we knew that the unit we were staying in had been updated.

Room Tip: Be sure to see the unit you are staying in as they differ dramatically.

Very well maintained condominium with nice amenities, such as heated pools, lobby facilities and gym. The reception desk staff is very courteous, helpful and responsive to issues. Our family of four adults and one toddler stayed in unit #115 rented through VRBO. Nice ground unit. Walking distance to village.

Room Tip: Make sure any units with rooms facing I-70 have sound proof glass. Unit #115 did. Higher units have better mountain views.

Rented a unit at the Vail Spa Condominiums on a trip with some friends. First time at the Vail Spa but many times at Vail, and I have to say it is nicier than I expected. We got a 3 bedroom unit, that had lots of room, nice living area and kitchen. Bathrooms were recently remodeled. Overall we found it very clean and on top they provide daily service, which was not expected. It's a quick walk to Lionshead square and the base. Recommended.

Took a last minute long weekend wth my two college age boys. Note to self: don't leave it to the last minute if you want a place near the lifts at Vail on Presidents Day Weekend. The people at the Lodging company cobbled together 5 nights in two different condos at Vail Spa and I thank them for it.

Vail Spa is a "gold" level accommodation. Highly serviceable but not luxury. It is a bit of a hike to the lifts in your ski boots, but certainly doable. Better location than the Ritz Carlton Club. And free covered parking is a nice thing to have in Vail!

The 3 BR condo has an odd, but oddly useful layout over 2 levels. Entry way has a bunk room with and bathroom and then stairs to the main floor. 2 king bedrooms, one with own bath, one with the bathroom for the living room. Large comfy combo living room / dining room with an open kitchen. All the mod cons. My only complaint was lack of window shades on the wall of windows in the living area made it uncomfortably bright in the late afternoon.

The reception desk is staffed by friendly helpful people. The daily maid service did a great job. We did not use the pool or hot tub, but it seemed like people were enjoying them and they looked well cared for.

Vail Village commands a price premium over Lionshead as the skiing logistics are easier and there are more dining options. But if you don't need all the frippery, Vail Spa is a good value.
