“Oh fun!”

Hot Springs Adventures

This is a place you can't drive on your own if you don't have 4 wheel drive and good shocks! We went on the sweet pea van I'm glad too! Beautiful area and the springs are like a natural wonder. Remember to take bathing suit and snow pants in the winter as this is cold!
A place to remember and rejuvenate!

really creepy in the dark and couples smoking pot, no staff members apart the one guy a ten minute walk up the hill in the pitch black, really couldn't find our way in the dark, I actually slipped off one of the stone steps and onto the lower one and panicked because it was very hot water and I didn't know how deep it was so I just advise being careful and take a torch. End result a relaxing soak but just be wary of weird people there as well.

I have "been aware" of Strawberry H.S. since the 1970's! when it was just open to anyone who wandered by and in (lots of what you might call "counter-culture-ness" going on. However, I did not visit it then. I (we) waited, and went with family now that it's "controlled" (admi$$ion, gates, rules (no loose dogs, don't pee in the pool, abide by the signs, etc.) and we had a good time. Pools vary by temperature, and one can get somewhat cooled-off before venturing back into the hot stuff. Several pools and areas to choose from. Like other reviewers have said: if it's winter, and icy, and snow on the roads, it can be an adventure in itself just getting here.

This place is cool however, seriously a lawsuit waiting to happen. No lighting at dark. Not even kidding. Can be dangerous. Unless you don't care if you slip and hurt yourself on your way to stumbling down to the hot spring and blindly feel your way around to eventually get into the water.. Then, if you happen to be there during clothing optional time, you should assume you will be the only one with something on. Just saying. People are doing everything you can imagine in that water So be weary and enter at your own risk. My guess is ,if any of that would be a problem, go during the daytime. Oh and don't expect any towels, lights of ANY kind.or really anything but a hot spring. It would probably impinge on the buckets full of cash taken in daily!!

Getting there is half the fun, the last miles are steep and beautiful. Well worth the effort.
The hot springs and surrounding vista are well worth the trip. A nice way to relax and soak up (excuse pun) the beauty. There are multiple pools that vary in heat as you move through them. You can progress to the hotter zones as you see fit. There is an ice cold pool adjacent to the hot pool that can fool you. The trout in the pool are your clue that it is not hot. There are changing facilities, towel rentals and parking. A real taste of Steamboat springs.
