“Gets better every time we visit”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

We did not stay at the resort but enjoyed the hot springs. They have added a new section on top with 5 new hot mineral pools and it has great views, no kids allowed (kids are allowed on lower levels). The bath house staff very customer oriented. Everything is clean and well maintained. In all there are 22 different pools at a variety of temperatures.

“Stinky Springs”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

Whether it’s skiing the endless powder at Wolf Creek or hiking the vast meadows divided by pristine mountain streams, every day spent in Pagosa Springs should be concluded with a trip to the natural hot springs downtown. In God’s natural play land, one has little to no chance of being diagnosed with the disease of boredom. All that is required is an undying thirst for the outdoors and a lung capacity capable of withstanding an elevation ranging from 7,000 to 12,000 feet. The catnip for anglers, Pagosa Springs contains all species of fish ranging from pike to bass to rainbow trout. With fifteen lakes and three raging rivers within the town limits, the fish population thrives to laudable numbers and sizes, with fish just waiting to be mounted on the bare mantles of tourists and locals alike.
No matter how one spends their time in the San Juan Mountain Range of Pagosa Springs, a trip to the Springs Resort is a definite must. All that is needed is a bathing suit and strained muscles that are prepared to be relaxed in the healing waters founded by the original Native American inhabitants, the Utes. In fact, the direct translation of Pagosa Springs from Ute is “stinky springs,” although the tourist brochures will lead you to believe that it translates to “healing springs” instead. I wonder why. The natural sulfur within the springs emits a pungent odor, but nothing that can’t be accustomed to by the human body within a matter of minutes.
The Springs Resort consists of twenty-seven different natural pools located on the edge of the San Juan River. This not only enables you to choose the pool with the temperature of your liking, but it allows you to decompress and observe nature at its finest as you witness the painting of the sky by the rays of the setting sun projecting magenta, indigo, and violet unto the snow capped peaks. To me, it is worth the visit just to leave behind the chaos of urban life and listen to the peaceful yet vivacious chorale of water as it proceeds on in Mother Nature’s own eternal version of Bach.
The Age of Technology is upon us and is rapidly replacing the timeless connection of the human being to the natural world. In a society of IPhones, IPods, and IPads, people are being consumed by technology, spending their only spare time with their eyes glued to the television. When I visit Pagosa Springs and enter a world where only the fingertips on the hand of technology have reached, I satiate my inner desire to connect with nature. I forget my schedule, the classes I’m taking, even the time of the day as I find my soul at peace. The natural world that engulfs you in Pagosa Springs acts as my masseuse, massaging the lactic acid out of my stress taut body. Experiencing the surreal beauty of nature always reminds me to live in the moment.

“Great Facility, Pricey but a Good Experience”
Reviewed 9 February 2012

The varying heat levels of the pools was just fabulous. Truly something for everyone - including the kids. During the winter it can be a bit icey and difficult to maneuver between pools. I would recommend a very heavy robe and extra towels. The towels will freeze between pools so nice to have a few extra. The staff was friendly and accomodating. My only concern is that we did not ever seen an employee outside while we were there in the winter. The Guiness Book of World Records party on a separate visit to The Springs was truly fabulous with Indian dancers and cool drinks.

“Great Hot Springs”
Reviewed 3 February 2012

My friends and I only visited the hot springs. We didn't stay at the resort. Cost was $20 for the day which we thought was a good price. For $5 more we could have upgraded to the adult only pools but there were very few children so we didn't. Definitely, bring your own towel and robe. My friends had to rent towels and they were tiny. They were smaller than your typical bath towel and not soft at all. We all rented a locker which was well worth it. You can have drinks in the pools. You are suppose to purchase from them but didn't seem to be anyone monitoring it. We brought in our own water bottles. Others brought in their own alcohol. Pools were a variety of tempetures and each pool was marked as to temps. Enjoyed the more intimate pools. Views were great. Loved being by the river. Great way to relax for the day.
