“Basse Normandie--come for the history; stay for the people”
Reviewed 13 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

A beautiful property that is well-run by hospitable people with deep roots in the region. The hosts speak several languages and go out of their way to make vacationers feel at home. A perfect starting-out point for any sights one might wish to see in the area. An accessible, rural, quiet, comfortable rental in one of the most beautiful and historic areas in Europe.

“Amazing hosts”
Reviewed 13 January 2016 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed for a week in September and thoroughly enjoyed this incredible Gite and our marvellous hosts.
This is an absolutely delightful location and we certainly chose THE place to stay.
We would very much hope to visit The Salamander again.

“Wonderful Family Holiday”
Reviewed 12 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Super-friendly owners- very comfortable and clean accommodation- everything we needed- superb location for historical visits/meals out and beach trips. Our boys loved feeding the chickens! We had one of our best family holidays- helped by warm sunny weather. Thank you Hilary for all your kindness and hospitable patience. We'd love to return one day!

“Beautiful home!”
Reviewed 27 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My husband and I and another couple shared this beautiful home for two fantastic weeks in Normandy. The home is beautifully restored and is close to the D-Day beaches. The large bathroom is handicapped accessible. As beautiful as the home is, the best part are the hosts. Hilary, Patrick, Tom and their lovable pets are warm, caring people who answer all questions with a smile and go the extra mile to help you enjoy your stay. Welcomed by a bottle of cider and given freshly laid eggs during our visit was a plus! I cannot recommend this rental enough! If we go back to Normandy, this is where we will stay.

“A real joy”
Reviewed 13 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

It was a such a pleasure to be able enjoy this treasure. A tastefully refurbished traditional Norman farmstead which simply exuded both class and history. Idyllically set in beautiful countryside it was a joy to return every evening. Hilary and Patrick were super hosts, who not only shared their local knowledge freely but were at ease in making the children feel totally at home in exploring the garden and interacting with the animals. Met with a bottle of local cider on arrival and sent off with a jar of blackberry jam the only too short a stay has already drawn demands from the children to 'go back to Hilary and Patrick house'. The Salmander was beautiful restored, perfectly equipped, well stocked with reading material games and puzzles and was a joy to experience. Joe (Ireland)
