Our stay at The Silk Pincushion was a somewhat comfortable one. Judy and Dennis our more mature innkeepers were warm, friendly and accommodating. Judy's breakfasts were good old fashioned home cooking that certainly provided that important "stick to your ribs" feeling that real, ambitious tourists need to get through a busy day of touring. Fresh fruit, juice, ample coffee or tea, berries, eggs, bacon, sausage, bread pudding were all tasty and prepared and presented well.

I did find a couple of disturbing aspects. The inn is not within a reasonable walking distance to downtown but its advertising leads one to believe so.

We stayed in the "Carriage House" a much more nostalgic, romantic name for what truly is a renovated garage. The original overhead door is still present though not visible from the inside lower unit that our friends occupied. That unit was spacious with a king bed and a large glass-doored, tiled shower. We had the garage attic with fairly steep stairs and sloped ceilings on opposite walls that this reviewer seemed to find quite often with his head. We also had a queen bed. The upstairs shower was a 30 inch fiberglass unit with a vinyl curtain. This TripAdvisor reviewer at 6' 1" and 185 pounds found it difficult to shower and reach all body parts easily. The bottom of the shower had a considerable gray/brown soap scum residue that took a hearty amount of elbow grease and a Mr. Clean eraser to remove. The attic was tight with fewer comfortable attributes when compared with the lower unit but was priced the same. It definitely should not have been.

Bottom line--if proximity to downtown is important and if you are uncomfortable with confined living and shower spaces this attic is not for you. In fact, this reviewer would definitely try another inn that is really closer to downtown.

Dennis and Judy were wonderful hosts, the accommodations were cozy, and the breakfast was amazing!! It was also nice to share breakfast and chat with the other occupants/ travelers staying at the bed and breakfast.

I have never wanted to stay at a bed & breakfast. Never appealed to me. But, with only one night to fill, I thought it was time to give it a try. The owners here are supremely nice and welcoming. Biggest plus for me was that they didn't try to hover over us. Very interesting home. Breakfast was tasty. The room was fairly tiny for two of us, but it was comfortable. Situated where you are within walking distance of just about everything Golden has to offer. I wish nothing but the best for these fine people.

We chose this B&B based on other reviews and were not disappointed. The room we stayed in, although small, was adequate and the updated shower area was a welcome sight in an old house. The hosts were friendly (including Maggie the cat), accommodating, and just a pleasure to be around. We loved looking at the antiques.

We changed our plans at the last minute and decided to spend the last night of our vacation in Golden. We were very lucky to get the last room at the Silk Pincushion. We had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before, always hotel stays. We loved this place! The owners are so hospitable and accommodating. The furnishings are antiques and the owners quilt so need I say more about the beautiful fashion in which there home us decorated. My husband and I are not big early morning breakfast eaters so we skipped the 8am breakfast but it smelled delicious, kind of like waking up at grandmas house! My husband went down to get us some coffee and came back with some scones which were to die for!! We are already planning our next Colorado trip and staying at the Silk Pincushion will definitely be a part of it!
