this review is based on a dinning experience only, not an overnite stay. service was a bit slow but ok as we weren't in any rush. food came out as ordered.waitresses were attentive to our needs, very nice old world setting. the bar had a nice local crowd, with live music. a nice wine selection,a little something for everyone. what was really nice is the owner came out to check on us to make sure everything was ok. maybe not for everyone, but if you don't want the crowded downtown evergreen, you should give this a try, a bit out of the way but well worth the trip, actually not far from town at all.

This was a neat little old hotel cute. Went for the weekend anniversary, if you stay over night on Friday be prepared to stay up to listen to the band it was very loud in out room no sleeping till will happen until they are done playing. And notes posted no refunds giving because of noise would have been nice to know before hand. No band on Saturday night which was nice. It says it's a bed and b- fast the "breakfast" was supposed to start we were told at 7:30 nothing was put out until after 8:20 or so and it was store bought looked like little Debbie doughnuts bread in plastic tubs very very lacking not what you would expect from a quote at advertised bed and breakfast.
We have never been to Evergreen
So it was nice to hang out in another part of Colorado but won't be back.

I have known the Brook Forest Inn and surrounding area since 1965. Back in those days the Inn was run down and only the bar in the building was open for drinks, some food and live music on occasion. I had heard and seen bits of history of the area and was fascinated by this old but beautiful structure. When I found out that a family had purchased the Inn and was restoring it, I was thrilled. My husband and I stayed in the one room that was slightly affordable to us. The three flights of stairs and sparse accommodations were worth the price to me though, to be able to see the whole Inn, the grounds and to find out more about its rich and fascinating history. I hope the owners will continue refurbishing this valuable part of Rocky Mountain history. My one recommendation would be more reasonable pricing so that more people could afford to stay there.

Room tip: Cheapest rooms have several flights of stairs to climb.

First, the positives: This is a beautiful location with a creek running through the property. We sat outside at a table overlooking the creek to eat a late lunch. This was a very enjoyable experience after coming from Texas heat where you can barely walk outside to the car let alone eat outside. The public areas of the inn are nicely decorated and comfortable for a historic inn except for rugs which badly need replacing.
Now, the negatives: Our room was on the 3rd floor, we were given almost no help carrying luggage up the stairs, and it was hot. The ceiling fan was little help. The room was badly in need of updating. The comforters appeared to be from the 70s and the mattresses were not comfortable. At night there was a spotlight aimed at a banner advertising their Sunday brunch which shone directly into our window, making it too light. It would have done no good to close the flimsy curtains even if we hadn't needed them open for a little cool air. Breakfast consisted of cheap, store bought pastries and juice and cold cereal. Coffee was the last item put out between 7:30-8:00. The front porch would have been a nice place to sit in comfortable chairs, but it was the smoking area and was never cleaned at night, so if you went out there to drink your coffee (when it was finally available), there were dirty ashtrays and stray ashes on the tables. The entire inn seemed to be run by a small group of very young workers who didn't care about service.
I would not stay here again.

Room tip: Room facing the creek on a lower floor might be better.

DO NOT COME here unless you want to waste your money. We paid for a room we didn't stay in overnight because our experience was so terrible. Staff was inexperienced, didn't know how to work the computer system, failed to mention there would be NO CELL PHONE SERVICE, gave us a fake wifi network-which we were obviously not able to access, and failed to mention that the power was out upon our return to the inn following a concert.

Staff did NOTHING to accommodate us following a power outage-no notification, no candles, no flashlights. We had to climb 3 flights of stairs in the dark in a place we were unfamiliar with. Furthermore, there was no cell service and no wifi and the "emergency" number they gave us rang to the front desk-which was un-staffed and empty. We felt unwelcome, and unsafe. We left in the middle of the night.

Trying to get in touch with management to report this horrible experience has been an absolute nightmare. They have not responded to calls or emails, and are conveniently "closed" Mondays, Tuesdays (which they failed to mention to paying guests who would have checked out on a Monday). Do not come here. I will never return to this so-called business establishment that parades itself as an operating bed and breakfast inn.

Room tip: Rooms have doors that don't shut, and shower door was broken
