“Good location but rather cramped and dated facilities”
Reviewed 4 May 2012

This property boasts a good location but facilities are rather cramped and dated. It is located in busy Colorado Boulevard with many stores and retail parks nearby including the popular and fashionable Cherry Creek Shopping District which is highly recommended. Front desk staff was friendly and able to accommodate requests for early check-in and late check-out. Although the lobby boasts a new decor but room furniture and fixtures are rather dated. We stayed at a suite with separate living room from bedroom but both rooms feel cramped and small. Similarly with other hotel facilities i.e. lobby, driveway and parking garage.

This hotel is located in a cramped, busy part of town. It was difficult for me to pull into the little driveway to get checked-in. And it was REALLY difficult for me to park in the parking garage! I don't have a small vehicle and found the narrow garage difficult to navigate. I winced each time I came and went - just hoping to NOT hit any of the other cars!!!

Parking is very cramped - the garage was full each time I went in there - finally found that there was a garage-roof-level parking and used that most of the time afterwards. It wasn't AS difficult for me to navigate (but getting up there and back down was never fun!)

Hotel staff were all attentive and friendly. The breakfast host IS a wonderful woman whom we enjoyed seeing and visiting with a bit each morning! We thought she was amazing! Definitely one of the crown jewels of that hotel!!!

The bedrooms were nice - clean and didn't have any strange smells. Our room was smallish - but we really didn't need anything larger. We were in town to participate in a tournament and only needed bed/breakfast amenities.

I would stay here again . . . but would certainly prefer to bring a smaller car to reduce that level of stress!

The one thing that did bother me was that my room card/keys would not work consistently. I kept both with me and would try them both and maybe get them to work a quarter of the time. I had to repeatedly go to the front desk and ask them for help with my keys. They magnetized them and re-magnetized them several times and I just never did have good success with them. A small thing - but when one is thoroughly exhausted and has to make repeated daily trips to the front desk for help - well - it becomes a large frustration.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room that does not face either Colorado Blvd. or Mexico Ave. Road noise would kee...

On behalf of the Fairfield Inn and Suites Denver/Cherry Creek I would like to thank you for your stay with us and your feedback.

As you can image in urban setting developers maximize every square foot and unfortunately that means small garages. It’s a great benefit to have when it’s snowing but the garage is a little tight and can be a challenge to navigate.

Here are a few suggestions for your next trip to make parking a little easier. The top level and the bottom levels of the garage are the least used areas of the garage. You’re welcome to park in these areas and take 2 parking spots. This would hopefully make the parking situation a little less challenging.

Thank you again for your feed back and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

Best regards,

I was torn on how I was going to review my stay at this hotel. After all, previous reviewers had expressed their dissatisfaction with their expectations not being met for one reason or another. Were those reviewers right? Maybe some of them were - the rooms could use a little updating, the hallways could use new carpet, etc.

But here's the thing. As somebody who travels 40% of the year, I feel the real secret to an enjoyable hotel stay is really set by the PEOPLE who work at the hotel, and this place has some of the friendliest, most attentive folks out there. I misbooked my check in date, yet was happily checked in right away and even upgraded to a suite without any issue. The housekeepers were thorough in making sure I got what I needed, even though I usually don't have my rooms serviced when I travel. And the other folks behind the desk had genuine concern when I walked out into a late Denver snowfall that I didn't fall and end up on some comedy YouTube video :-).

Does the hotel management know they need to get some updating done in the rooms and the hallways? Of course they do. They read these reviews like we all do (and in an exceptional case with this place, respond to them) - I bet there's a budget coming somewhere down the line for it all to get fixed, given the fact the lobby area looks newly remodeled. As for the parking garage? Well, it's narrow in some parts, but at least it's FREE and covered...there's an open lot right next to its entrance if you have a vehicle too big to navigate through it.

And these things are all OK in my book, because the PEOPLE are what made my stay here a good one. After all, it's called the HOSPITALITY industry for a reason...

One previous comment I will agree with - get a room on the EVEN side of the building...I am betting the other side of the hotel that faces Colorado Avenue can be a little loud; especially at rush hour. Otherwise, thanks for the stay!

Room Tip: Get a room on the EVEN numbered side of the building.

We appreciate your comments regarding the hotels need for some updating. The management is aware of this need and happy to inform our guests that we will be doing a full guest room renovation in late 2012 and ealry 2013.

Stayed here for three nights while visiting my daughter in Denver. Loved the complimentary breakfasts, free in-room internet, and business center. Business center had two computers and printer/copier which came in very handy. I needed to print off some documents from email account and also made hard copies on the copy machine. All were complimentary. The hotel is a bit older and shows some sign of wear, but my room was sparkling clean. Located on main drag, Colorado Blvd., and right next to I25. Lots of street noise, but I asked for a quieter room and they put me on the 9th floor with a mountain view. If you faced away from the mountains (and Colorado Blvd) it would probably be even quieter.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors and facing east are quieter.

My family and I were looking for somewhere with a pool and that was close to downtown. I was working near the convention center while they were playing on spring break. This location is just off the interstate (but far enough away to avoid interstate noise). Colorado Blvd is a major road through town and a minor amount of traffic noise could be heard at times (we were on the 5th floor, west side).

Pool was clean though relatively small. My three young kids had hours of fun in it and not one complaint. (It was very hard to find a hotel with a pool (that was in our price range) near downtown Denver).

The staff were exceptional! Every encounter with the staff was great, from the housekeeping staff to the desk attendant. The housekeepers observed the "Do not disturb" signs every time, and if I caught them in the hall, would change towels out if needed. Rooms were well furnished. Our room was not a suite and did not have a refrigerator. It did have a coffee maker that I did not use. Water pressure and cleanliness were both good.

I'll agree with other reviewers that the parking garage was... well.. different. I feel vulnerable in Parking garages to start with but I was impressed with how clean this one was. It is well lit and seems to be an area that the staff pay particular attention to. It is small and if the hotel would have been busier, it would have been more difficult to get our suburban in and out.

While packing the car at the end of our stay, the police were looking for a suspect in some criminal act, and yes, were in the parking garage. The garage is "open" to anyone passing by and apparently they thought the suspect had gone into the parking garage. This was not a particularly bad part of town nor an upscale part of town. I think it was just coincidence and don't count that again the hotel.

Overall, I would go out of my way to stay here again, and again, and again.

Room Tip: East side may be quieter than the west, since the west side faces Colorado Blvd. Views of the mounta...

Thank you for being our guest. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your spring break trip and that your children enjoyed swimming in our indoor pool. We are very lucky to have a pool being an urban proprty as some of the downtown hotels are not able to provide this amenity. I am glad to hear that our location worked well for you while you were attending a conference.

I am glad to hear that you found our parking garage to your cleanliness. As for the police in our parking garage, guest safety is a our top priority at the hotel.

We thank you for your comments and hope to have you stay again.
