Took a short free tour of this gorgeous Capitol Building-- Beautiful 1940's murals, a grand staircase, magnificent chandeliers in the Senate and House and former courtroom.

My daughter and I went here just yesterday, and we need to go again when we have a little more time. I love seeing state capitol buildings (and county seat court houses), and knowing what skill and craftsmanship was put into the construction is inspiring.

Although we just missed the last tour, we were allowed to walk around on our own anywhere we wanted. A docent asked if we had questions and then spent about 30 minutes with us, telling us the history and information on the capitol building, telling us what to see in the building, and also telling us a lot about Denver in general. I can't imagine that the people on the tour learned much more than we did, and it was nice to walk around at our own pace. It is a beautiful building! Well worth a visit. We did not see any homeless people at the capitol builiding, but did not walk into the park across the street,

A friend and I did a 'self-tour'. Very beautiful building. Fabulous architecture. Don't think they build like this anymore!

If I was to come back here, I would wait and take the guided tour. Beautiful building - would have liked to learn more about it.
