“Very nice. Cosmopolitan yet feels like home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2012

My wife and I stayed here on two different occasions. The rooms were nice and had a homey feel, yet it also felt upscale and cosmopolitan. The next morning, go over to Panzanos for breakfast next door. The pancakes are awesome. Now I did not encounter anyone staying at the hotel with dogs. I see another reviewer who mentioned that, and I would have to agree with them about the whole "Pet friendly" part. In my opinion, leave the dogs home.

I just love Kimpton's--the open and friendly staff, the coffee in the morning and wine reception at night makes me feel, well,a bit loved. I've stayed at Kimptons in Portland, DC, Baltimore and now Denver, this time with our Corgi. She loved it too! They will walk your dog for you if you ask, or they can arrange a dog-sitter for $10 hr to stay with your dog in the room if you prefer.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room--our Queen Deluxe was really too small for a couple and a dog!

I would absolutely stay here again. The staff really makes you feel welcomed. My room was certainly an odd shape but it was huge with high ceilings and nicely decorated. The location is outstanding and there are many decent restaurants nearby in addition to the excellent one on premises. The lounge area where they have complimentary wine happy hours is very elegant and when I told the manager I would be working late the rest of the week and thus be unable to partake, he had wine sent to my room!

This is a great hotel. Very different yet elegant decor and ambiance. Wonderful service and staff.
Beautiful, immaculate rooms.
However, I didn't care for the large number of dogs that accompanied the humans.
When I was looking for a luxury hotel to spend our annivesary in, I guess I missed the "pet friendly" part.
I love dogs, but I didn't care for the large barking dogs while trying to enjoy some nice quiet time in the lobby sitting room with my wife or tripping over a small one when exiting an elevator.
Like I said, I love dogs, but a luxury hotel is not the place for them.
Sad to say, we won't return because of it.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and choosing to spend your anniversary with us here at the Hotel Monaco.

As with every Kimpton Hotel, we are also pet friendly and encourage our guests to bring their furry ones with them whenever they visit the Mile High City.

Next time you stay however, give us a call ahead of time and request a non pet floor. We would be happy to accommodate this request for you as well as any others that you may have.

Hope to see you again soon!

The Monaco is central, it is friendly, it is reasonably priced. The wine and cheese at 5 - 6 is fun, and if you miss it, the desk will give you a certificate that will give you a free wine in the lounge. The restaurant next door (Pinzano) is four star -- italian. I personally have had better italian food, but this is certainly worth the visit and the service is 5 star. It is a dog friendly hotel - and the dogs are fun and not overbearing. We are here on memorial day, and there was a 'continental breakfast' (coffee, jiuce, friut). You are 1 block from the 16th street mall. The rooms are large and the place is quiet (there is some noise on the North side when the garbage man pounds the dumpster). The front desk is helpful and generally familiar with the area (but maybe not the parking rules).
The problem issues: someone should tell them that the annoyance of forcing patrons to join the Kimpton club to get Internet access is ridiculous. Why? So that they can bombard you with junk email that no one reads? Do they really think that the endless junk email is a plus? If you do not join the Kempton Club, there is a 10$ fee to access the Internet. Parking is a bit problematic. There is no coffee pot in the room.
Overall -- one of the best in Denver. But there is indeed room for improvement.

Room Tip: Stay away fro low floors on the north side.
