We do eat out alot but this was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. We were visiting the area and thought we'd try this pub as it is dog friendly. The food was excellent, the service friendly & efficient and our dog was made most welcome. The pub itself is a lovely old building. The food wasn't expensive.
We shall definitely return.

We have eaten here twice. Once as a small group and again as a large group. Both times we were extremely happy with the food, staff and table. The menu is varied and catered well for children.

Mothers day weekend. Pre booked table not available, pea and ham soup like green dish water with no sight of any ham!
No bread with prawn cocktail, dry steak pie with no gravy. Shambles from start to finish.
Dirty dated toilets.
Will never be going back poor visit all around don't believe the reviews!

Thank andrew p

Hi Andrew P

I notice that this is the first review you have written, why would you not mention your issues at your time of visiting and we could have done something to rectify it. you must have visited us before as you picked a table for your booking.

We book certain tables as a request or suit the needs of guests with mobility issues, we are a 17th century coaching inn, we have limited space and we have to maximize the tables the best way for the business.I believe that most of your complaint is based on the fact you did nt get the table you requested.

The ham & pea soup was made from ham stock, as i had a terrine on the next day. It doesn't say on the menu that a prawn cocktail comes with bread, but if you had asked i would have happily sent you one of our fresh homemade everyday bread rolls.
if you would like more gravy with your pie just ask. no problem at all.

The pub was very busy on Saturday so if the toilets were not as clean as you expect then I apologies.

Went just after Xmas for family meal had Sunday lunch. Good price for two or three courses. We all enjoyed the food - meat and veg nicely cooked and presented. All desserts were enjoyed but my brownie was a bit dry. The only thing is the restaurant is a little dimly lit and the chairs are very uncomfortable especially for my 85 year old mother whose sight is also not good, so a bit of a struggle for her. Had not been before and restaurant was smaller than I expected and also a little chilly - we were in earlyish so perhaps not enough people had been in to warm it up! The staff were pleasant and friendly.
