We went to Del Lago for a special occasion dinner and it certainly didn't disappoint. Located in the 5-star Broadmoor hotel, Del Lago is in a beautiful setting overlooking the lakes at the Broadmoor.
The food was simply outstanding. We shared the Antipasti Misti plate to start, athe chef's selection of excellent Italian meats and cheeses ($15). Next we shared the Campanelle Carbonara ($13) for our Primi Piatti course, not wanting to get too full for the rest of the meal. With the house-smoked pork and pecorino, it was simply heavenly.
For our main course, my wife selected the Porchetta (suckling pig with Fennel and Apple - $27) and I had the Roman Meatballs (with smoked ricotta and buckwheat polenta - $18), and a side of Fire Roasted Fingerling Potatoes. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious.
For our desserts we had the Cannoli (stuffed with pistachio and orange filling - $9) and the Castagnole (warm donut holes with a lemon icing to dip in - $9). Our server described the Castagnole as "life changing"....I think she was right. Both desserts were simply outstanding.
The service was also excellent. Not "hovering" but always there when we needed something, which was never because they anticipated our needs perfectly. Water glasses were kept full, empty plates promptly removed and fresh silverware placed after each course.
If you are visiting the Broadmoor or live in the Colorado Springs area and want a great meal without breaking the bank, Ristorante Del Lago is an excellent choice.
