Owner description: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is America's ONLY mountain zoo. Large alpine habitats are home to over 950 different animals and approximately 180 species. All of your favorites are here - monkeys, hippos, tigers, elephants and bears (oh my!). Hand-feed their large reticulated giraffe herd, and experience animals up-close, like never before.

“Best View from any Zoo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

Downside - the price is a little more expensive than the average zoo. They have a fantastic giraffe area, lots of 'em. You walk on a deck so you are almost head level & you get to feed them crackers. You can see the whole city.

“Give the girafe a snak”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

My daughter and I loved the visit to the zoo, specially when we could give food to the girafe in their mouths, it was outrageous! the problem was that the zoo is on the mountain, and to visit the animals we had to climb a lot!! we got tired!!

“High mountain zoo - check out Will Rogers memorial up top after”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

Lots of steep roads to meander, but the animals are worth it. Admission price a but steep, look for discount offers and coupons. If not too healthy, take tram ride to top and work your way down to see it all. Easier on the legs. Great giraffe display, mountain lions could use clearer glass to view them. Your receipt gets you into the gate drive entry where you can drive up the curving roads, with superviews of Col Springs below up to the Will Rogers Memorial up top, You've seen it from the highway below and lit up and night, now get to see this tower up close and walk up inside for great views. Free to zoo entrants.

“Animal Magic at Christmas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

On holidays from Australia, we visited the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo one very cold night at Christmas time. The zoo was decked out in lit up animated outlines of animals (and some real ones, safely inside their warm enclosures). The staff were very friendly, going out of their way to help us. We ate up nearer the top of the mountain at a very nice zoo cafe and enjoyed some hot chocolate drink (prices were reasonable) while looking out over Colorado Spring's night lights. All in all, very enjoyable.
