“Comfortable, clean and in a great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed here in April for 6 nights. We chose the 1 bedroom condo which was a great choice. It has a king bed, a very well equipped kitchen, washing machine, dryer, balcony and an open fire place. Things may differ from unit to unit depending on the owners though.

The location is great. It is a 5 minute walk to the village, so easy to walk to the ski slopes and within easy walking distance if you choose to go out for dinner.
I read another review that said it was a long way to the slopes, but my boyfriend and I walked to the slopes and back every day. We left our skis overnight at the rental shop and walked home with our boots..it was very convenient.

The service at The Charter is fantastic. On our arrival hotels.com had neglected to book us in so The Charter had no record of our booking. They were extremely helpful and found us a room immediately.
They also provided a complimentary shuttle to Avon, which is a little town located about 5 mins from Beaver Creek and where you can do your grocery shopping. A word of advice if you would like to stock your fridge with food is to go to Avon and not buy food in the village. There is only one small market and it's overpriced and only stocked with basic products.

I would absolutely recommend The Charter....we loved it!!

On a ski trip in January I stayed here and liked the service. The location was not as expected as it wasn't really a "ski in, ski out" area. We had to take a shuttle bus to the lifts and back which added 10 minutes each way plus load and unload. True the valet was there to help at the hotel but again, the tip jar was way too obvious as it was on the shuttle bus. Better not to have to contend with this added service. The bar was not inviting, located as it was behind the beautiful fireplace. The casual restaurant off the end of the bar was awful with tables lined up against the wall in a row. The food was very mediocre.

The Charter may be the oldest ski lodge in Beaver Creek, but that is part of what makes it so very special. Like its finest counterparts in the Alps, it is a ski mountain classic. The standards of service are world class and unmatched by any of the newer, shinier properties in the valley. As a regular visitor it is gratifying to see so many familiar faces among the staff and to realise that they really do care. Ski in, ski out is possible, though most guests choose to use the regular shuttle that ferries skiers the 400 yards to the base of the main lifts. Unlike most of the lodges, the Charter has a bar and restaurant, both of which offer good value and great views. A large indoor pool, gym and spa all help to make the experience special. The best condos are those which face the slopes.

Room Tip: West facing condos. Block one is closest to the village/ski lifts.

My family and I stayed at The Charter over Spring Break in March. We arrived on a Sunday and left on Saturday. Our room was spacious and clean when we arrived. We had two bedrooms- one with a king, the other with 2 full-sized beds. Each bedroom had their own bathroom and tv's the full-sized room also had a small refrigerator and small bar area. The king room had an additional sink on the outside of the bathroom to allow for one person to be in the barhroom and one to be putting on makeup, etc. The full sized kitchen was convenient, as was having the washer/dryer combo. We had a patio filled with firewood, but it was so warm while we were there, we never were able to take advantage of the wood-burning fireplace.
The housekeepers were friendly and helpful. The ladies kept our rooms nice and neat. It was a great treat to have a break from housework while on vacation- very relaxing for Mom!
The sofa in the living room had a pull- out bed. The room could have slept 6-8. (we are only 3)
This was a very homey room and we enjoyed our stay.
We were with a business group and were provided breakfast each morning. The food was delicious, and wait staff friendly and helpful. Great start of the day before taking the shuttle to the slopes. The shuttles run often and when taking equipment, it is the easiest way to get everything to the lifts. It's an easy walk, although many sets of steps, to walk up to the village.

I recently stayed at The Charter in a 2BR condo and I was really impressed. What this place lacks in updated and trendy styling it makes up for with great service. The rooms were extremely comfortable and the staff was accommodating at every level. The Charter has everything you need to make your beaver creek vacation perfect.

Overall, I was consistently surprised by the level of service. From housekeeping, to ski equipment rental, to general concierge service: this was probably the best service I have ever experienced.

I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony that faces a ski mountain (the west side).
